I'd defo take him in an ange team ahead of the likes of Taylor. Ye we should have bought him from hearts or not let him go in first place. But likes others have said he is much further developed having backed himself and done that rather than waiting for Lennon to play him. If he was an unknown having played a season in seria a at 19 people would be mad to get him in

Yeah looks like he played consistently early on before he got coronavirus. Didn’t really get back up to speed and then did his shoulder, went for surgery, out for the season.

Hes streets ahead of Doig, anyway, for me, and he is being touted at £4m.

True but then we could be paying 3 million pound or so after we said he wasn’t good enough.

what should be happening is having something in place to help these young players come through instead of wasting talent and then overspending.

Whoever was in charge let him go to hearts with a sell on fee. If they thought he was good enough they would have offered him a better deal.

We have been criminal with handling youth the last * knows how many seasons.

Wasn’t he 15 or nearly 16 at the time when he left? I wouldn’t expect most 15/16 year olds to play first team football at that age. I get we had KT but he could have learnt from him.

We done the same with Andy Robertson as well.

I think I'd be more than happy signing Hickey if we had a better backup, even someone experienced who can fill in now and then and help hickey progress.

If we rated him I would have kept him. Again that’s just me.

It annoys me that we have kept others like Ralston and let players like Him leave.

Edit, just had a look it says he played 2 games in the 2018 season when he first signed for them. It wasn’t till the following season he played more.

We did try and keep him!! He didn't want to stay. He knocked us back last summer as well.

i honestly don’t remember at the time regarding the matter, I will take your word for it buddy.

just frustrating that some of these players have turned out good.

or that we have had the best left backs in the last 10 years all come from Celtic.

This will come down to whether he would prefer to come home to Scotland or stay in Italy. If he wants to come home, we only need to put in a realistic offer and we will get him.

Would like to see this happen, looks a right tidy player most games I seen him. Haven't seen any of him at all since he went to Italy but by all reports I've read he's only improved.

    * knows. It was just a joke about left backs and the historical significance of “what foot do you kick with?”. Catholic’s were said to kick with the left foot, presumably as we were the minority?

Celtic have made a £3.4million (€4m) bid for Bologna's Aaron Hickey, according to a report.

The teenage left-back is a former Parkhead academy prospect but left the club in 2018 to join Hearts.

Hickey became a breakthrough star at Tynecastle, making his debut aged just 16 and later sealing a sensational £1.5m move to Serie A.

The 19-year-old has long been linked with a return to Celtic and speculation has intensified following the appointment of Ange Postecoglou as new manager.

And now il Resto del Carlino report the Glasgow giants have firmed up that interest with an opening offer.

Last week, Bologna's league rivals Napoli were urged to make a move for the Scot

Their former manager Gianni di Marzio now works for the club as a transfer consultant and he believes signing Hickey would be excellent business.

He said: "Napoli need to make some serious changes to their team for the new season. They have to get rid of players and recruit well.

"I'm looking at someone like Aaron Hickey of Bologna - I see him as being a perfect fit for Napoli.

Hickey is a very good, young player. He knows how to do both the defensive side of the game and he's very dangerous in an attacking sense.

"Of course, it would depend on how much he is available for and how much Napoli wants to invest, but he has to be someone that would interest them.”

Hickey is due to report for pre-season training with Bologna after recovering from a shoulder operation.
