I'm no for one minute sticking up for Lennon.. But turning up ready for pre season is one way to be in contention to be starting games and being match fit. Doesn't say much too other either if he starts getting starts in the team after no bothering too stay fit for the 10 like most others did.

Kind of how I see it.... just an insurance policy so we have ‘someone’ for up front.

I thought he’d be offloaded ... but who can foresee what Celtic do right now? Nostradamus would give it a swerve.

I’ll bet LG is quite happy though.

Having Griff and Bayo offloaded, on top of Eddie bound to leave, meaning Ajeti is by himself..... Fans would have rioted either way.

Damned if you do, Damned if you don't.

I'm not a fan of Griff anymore but I see no problem giving him a year so he can play 3rd or 4th choice striker.

I suspect it is Ange's decision. Dont reckon he's the type to dance to the Board.

I am reasonably happy to see Grifff stay for a year. We all know what he is like, this that and the other but at the end of the day, he is a finisher, and a quality one at that, they are few and far between. Clean slate, surely he knows he has to apply himself or his career is down the pan.

I think that with all the in and outs it makes sense to have him there, no buying fees just additional wages for a year. It means if he switches his brain on and gets himself ready then he has the chance to start especially over the qualifiers. It also gives Ange a portion of time to look for the right striker we need for the next few seasons. It opens the door for Eddy to leave and Ajeti to be back up.

Griff has always been a threat when he’s fit and on his game that hasn’t changed it’s just his attitude that needs adjusting and I think Ange is a different kettle when it comes to man management, I hope he finds his feet and produces his best season yet if he does that we will challenge and he will get a new deal.

The nature of this season is that if all Griffiths does is get himself fit to contribute in the qualifiers then it's worth it.

Maybe I'm being optimistic but I suspect this was Ange's decision and I suspect he made him wait until the last minute as a reminder to Griffiths how lucky he is.

I feel like this was a good decision and I'm backing Ange to get the best out of him.

    Leigh Griffiths 3 biggest talents:

    1. Convincing the manager that last season was a blip and this time he's fully fit and raring to go
    2. Scoring goals
    3. Eating a teacake in a wunner

This is small risk action that may reap bigger rewards. All stemming from a mismanaged squad and belt tightening from the Covid era.

Ange will have the final say on this but the realism is that there will be no massive rebuild here. 3/4 players supplemented by the resigning of Griff and Ralston and perhaps a couple of loans.

This is Griffs last big deal. He will give it a go and know by now that there's no more wriggle room for his nonsense. Except a few elite clubs.

This isn't surprising in the slightest. But I do hope the permanent signings are dealt with quickly and are of quality.

I think it’s embarrassing that he’s staying and think it sends out all the wrong messages. We needed a clear out after last years disaster and he should have been one of the first out the door.

Aright huffy. Aye he'll give it a go cause this is his last big pay day. He'll get * all like what he's given here anywhere else. English fitba won't go near him. There'll be a little truth to his words of he was fit and lennon chose not to play him. Ange will have listened to JK and GS regarding last season and also be aware of the budget restraints in place. For both parties it's a deal of convenience.

Unless he scores 30 plus goals, this will be his last season.

Regardless of issues I thought it was time up but if Ange decides to keep him and it doesn't work out it will be on his shoulders not LG's

I hope there's a clause in the contract that we look how many appearances he has made for the team up till Christmas and if it's a unsatisfactory amount it can be cancelled .

Sincerely hope every whiney * in here is eating their words in 6 months time.

    This deal makes perfect sense.

Griff has PROVEN ABILITY. Any new manager would be mad not to give him a chance.

People acting like he's been handed a 6 year deal on 50k a week ffs.

He's been given a one ear deal. One year, LESS even, to prove himself valuable.

Dry your * eyes and get behind the player ffs.

There are many factors in why we have retained Griffiths services. He can count himself lucky that Howe didn’t arrive and the long delay in appointing Postecoglou. This has left the club little time to sign two top strikers for starters and expected to hit the ground running for CL qualifying. Ange already has one hand tied behind his back going into the new season. We are in serious need of 8/9 new players and Griffiths has obviously impressed the new man with his promise to kick on. His wages don’t break the bank and after Edouard leaves he will be the most reliable striker at the club. (I know) When I thought he was gone a couple of days ago, I did think Celtic were shooting ourselves in the foot. So I can’t say I’m annoyed with the news. Better having him around the squad than not having anyone else to turn to.
