As long as Kennedy and Strachan are still there he will still struggle to win people over, the question being is he yet another yes man. Talk is cheap, results is when he will be properly judged. Until we get playing and see what he is doing, see what players he brings in and if he brings in his own coaching team, the jury will still be out.

Oh the irony of you accusing others of creating a mythology. Where did I say I only watched one video? I watched numerous highlights and it wasn't pretty. But that doesn't fit with your little made up scenario now does it? And for the record, it wasn't his defence I had a specific problem with, that's just a symptom, it's his apparent inflexibility regarding his philosophy. Something I think is going to bite him in the * if he sticks to it rigidly here. And because, shock horror, I actually want to see him do well, I was looking for some indications that wasn't going to be the case. But if he is anything like you I fear his tenure may well be short...

No, you didn’t tag me, as you can see in the first post. You’re just dying for attention.

    Anyway I’m bored now.

It's an oversimplification to say that Ange doesn't focus on defense. Of course he does, but he does it differently to most teams which condense as soon as they lose the ball into defensive shape. Ange's teams hound the other team all over the park from the moment they lose the ball - trying to win it back when they're already up the park with the enemy in disarray. The risk to this method is that you have less players behind the ball if the enemy do manage to avoid the press.

The other slightly risky aspect to his style is that he likes to keep the ball and play through (or around) the other team. This can leave his teams susceptible to losing the ball in their own third but when the system is working other teams tend to play conservatively.

That right there is the hope for Celtic. Celtic always plays against conservative teams in the league. They now have a manager who has spent his whole career shifting parked buses.

Really looking forward to seeing his attacking style & hope the high press works with the 10 men behind the ball * football we're used to here :50:

It’s not groundbreaking to suggest that appointing Ange after Howe was due be in the building was incredibly disappointing for the vast majority of Celtic supporters.

However, I think the vast majority (if not all) fans are well behind him now.

Boy, if anyone thinks there's negativity on this thread take a look at the Kerrydale forum. I had a bit of a lurk yesterday and was stunned by the venom against Ange.

I think the majority of posters on this thread have been reasonably measured. There's been a clear transition from bewilderment/disappointment to acceptance and cautious optimism with plenty of intelligent commentary all over the shop.

What we really need to see is some players being brought in and some news out of the training camp in Wales. First pre-season match in just over a week.
