Can't say I heard him using it, but then I stopped listening to his interviews quite some time ago. Let's hope, unlike you, our new manager doesn't cringe at a mere word though.

I can't imagine any fan not wanting him to be successful. He may not have been everyone's first choice, mine included, but to not want him to succeed would be a bizarre level of twisted.

    He definitely speaks well.

Not something that I would get too excited about because we need words put into action.

However it is so refreshing to have someone who speaks so well and oozes professionalism and deep knowledge of the game. Night and day compared to Lennon who refused to get involved in tactical discussion.

This is the biggest thing for me too. I've mentioned before but that comment from Lennon about not doing video analysis in a long while was the most telling when it came to his lack of professionalism and outdated approach.

Ange lives and breathes coaching, knows exactly how he wants his teams to play and wants his players at peak condition in order to overwhelm the opponent. That stuff is music to my ears and like you say night and day with what we've been witnessing under Lennon and Kennedy where the players looked unfit and unfocused.

Sorry, but anyone calling Ange a "yes-man" is clueless and need to read about his history. Ange resigned from the Australian national team after qualifying them for the 2018 World Cup for the very reason of NOT being a Yes Man to the Aussie FA!!! Which other manager walks away from a team after getting them to the World Cup?! That is because he has his values (which he stressed in the press conference) and his principles. If you listen to the press conference carefully, he explains that he wants to decide for himself, players and coaches, whether they will go on this new journey we are all embarking on, but people expect him to drop Kennedy and Strachan immediately based on their words when they haven't even bothered to do the minimum research about Ange. Anyone calling Ange a "yes-man", especially since he's given no reason to suspect this since arriving in Glasgow (but the accusations began even before he arrived!) means they have not even made the minimum effort to research about Ange's history.

This is what made Ange so loved in Australia and Japan, the fact that he was never scared to attack, even the likes of the Netherlands, Chile and Spain when Australia was drawn in the group of death in the 2014 World Cup, and Australia received huge praise for it.

It's daft that people complain Celtic FC got a "no-name" manager and say a "big" name manager should've come in, but at the same time they don't want to go and take on the likes of Barcelona or PSG and instead want to hide away and defend. People can't complain they didn't get a high-profile manager but at the same time be scared to take on high-profile clubs. Hypocrites. Would these people have the same attitude if Pep was manager of Celtic FC?

Mate, Ange was managing Australian sides all over Asia, including the likes of extremely underdeveloped countries like Laos. He knows how football should be played, even on a bad pitch/bad conditions (and probably much worse than Scottish premiership fields!), and if someone is having an off-day, they probably won't make the XI!!! But who the * changes their tactics because 1-2 players might be having a bad day?! Either they don't make the XI or they get subbed. It is absolutely ridiculous to even suggest that a whole team should change their tactics because someone is having an off-game.

I wasn't talking about 1 or 2 players, I'm talking about those days when the entire team is having an off day and can't string 2 passes together, it happens to all teams at times and you can't sub the entire team.

That can happen in any system.

Sometimes it's just not your day but the fact that Ange's Brisbane Roar team holds the record (36 matches) for the longest unbeaten run tells you a lot about the success of his formula once he gets buy in from the players.

If someone can't string two passes together, then no system can help that.

Actually it can, for example you don't play a passing game and go direct. There are other ways to go about it, but forcing the players to continue doing the same thing is not likely to get you the desired result.

Sorry to raise your stress levels then, there is no way that Ange will ever allow a "direct" (kick and chase/hope) game.

The 36 game thing doesn't actually tell me that much, I don't know the caliber of player he had compared to the other teams. Was it with a squad he assembled or inherited? How many were wins rather than draws? * rangers went undefeated in the league for the entire season. All that really tells me is that we, and everyone else in the league, were crap.

I get what you are saying, and I hope that it is what happens here, but without anything concrete to base it on that's all it is just now for me, hope. We'll find out in due course if it is well founded.

A-league is a salary-capped league. I think that should say enough on what a huge achievement 36 game unbeaten streak is - a record in any Aussie sport.

Agree with a lot of what you’re saying here, but I can’t stand the idea in bold.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with playing defensive football, particularly when you’re massively outgunned. Modern management is honestly so ideological and I’m not convinced it does the game any favours at all.

There’s an ugly side to every sport and learning to win ugly will be integral to Ange’s success here, both domestically and in Europe. We’ve got to the stage in football now where clubs who are vastly outgunned financially are looked down upon for adopting creative tactics and a bit of defensive stubbornness to attempt to bridge that gap. Just seems mental to me. Defence is half the game and tactical ability is pretty much the number 1 way to bridge an ability gap between two team or individuals across all sports. Football fans just have a bizarre hang up on playing the game the ‘right way’, when there is no right way.

In a salary capped league it is truly the manager who makes the biggest difference.

Ange walked in - sacked all the inner core big name wasters who would either undermine his authority or be unable to play his system (or both) - and brought in a couple of outstanding Europeans and developed a bunch of youth players into household names.

He asked to be judged after 12 months but far quicker than that had his team playing an astonishing brand of high tempo aggressive football that other teams just couldn't cope with.

The thing about winning trophies in Oz is that it’s salary capped. That means coaching gives an edge. Absolutely * all wrong with pointing that out.
