What’s the story with Aaron Mooy? I’ll admit I’ve never seen that much of him. Will Angie be on the blower? Should he be, or are his best days behind him?

Probably on absolutely crazy money in China.

Seen he’s back kicking about the west end this weekend. Think his mrs and kids live here full time? She’s from this part of the world I believe.

    Some potential targets IMO -

GK - Zack Steffen (Man City/USA)

    GK - Mathew Ryan (Brighton/Australia)

LB - Owen Wijndal (AZ Alkmaar/Netherlands)

LB - Josh Doig (Hibs / Scotland)

CM - Stephen Eustaquio (Pacos Ferriera)

CM - Ali McCann (St Johnstone/Northern Ireland)

Like all of them mate. But we’re never getting anywhere near Wijndal. Netherlands national team’s starting lineup, he’ll go for in excess of 20 million to the EPL.

I’d like Doig to come in as a starter and failing that get that kid Marmol from Barca and develop him and persevere with Taylor in the meantime.

Yeah he’d be on crazy money in China.

With that said, yes his Mrs and kids live full time in Scotland. Mooy moved to China and she elected to stay put. Apparently she put out an Instagram post that was a bit bitter when he was announced as moving to China, understandably. Mooy is back visiting her because they hadn’t seen each other in about a year with Covid restrictions etc.

He was supposed to be with the Australian team but they gave him a “pass” to see his family. So with the family situation in mind, would he stay in Scotland? An attractive offer might see him stay. I think he had a £4m buyout clause to go to China so one would think they’ll want some of that back.

Footballing wise, his game time has been limited because of the foreign player rules. The team he signed for has too many I believe.

Mooy still has the ability, especially to play PL, his mind is his most powerful tool. Just reads a game so well, ups the tempo, slows it down when needed. His ability to keep the ball in tight spaces is excellent, at Huddersfield he often got double and triple marked as he was the player to stop if you wanted to stop Huddersfield. Very good in the tackle too.

Think he would be a great starting point for Ange’s rebuild and he’s definitely a player that can play against the top sides in Europe and not look out of place.

Can't see us matching the Watford bid for Doig. £4m was it? I wouldn't pay that.

Depends how it was structured.May have been £4m but with clauses that would never see hibs get anywhere near £4m.

If there's a slight chance in it we should be all over it would be exactly the right mix of quality and experience to build the team around and could be a leader in taking on the captains armband

Definitely the right mix of quality and experience, get him for two years of establishing the style and by that time Celtic could find a younger version of him. Don’t know about the captain's armband though, Mooy is a notoriously quiet guy, the sort of guy who leads through actions and not words.

20 million plus Kennedy and Strachan for Mooy? (worth every penny)

What about Harry Souttar? CB born in Scotland but plays for Oz - was one of Stoke City's best players last year. Has scored several goals in just a handful of games for Oz - very tall weapon at set pieces.

    Ange will know about him.

Supposed to be better than his brother and no idea why he was so overlooked by Scotland.

6’6 and only 22, I’d be well for that.

I was surprised also that Scotland hadn't shown interest, but wasn't that impressed when I first saw him - looked a bit of a plodder in defense despite his danger at set pieces. Maybe that's what the Scottish selectors thought?

But in the last year or so (since committing to Aust) he's gone to a new level. Very likely to have an excellent career so best Celtic grab him before he becomes too expensive.

He was always very highly rated so the switch kinda came out of nowhere. He used to be a defensive midfielder though.

A couple Australians I think we would be looking at (or hoping so in some cases) if Ange does come in.

Harry Souttar, tall and a good aerial threat essentially a decent young option for Centre Back and one I’d be hoping we are looking at.

Riley McGree, haven’t watched him much but only ever heard good things about him and his future. Can play anywhere in the middle of the park as well good benefit too have. Would prefer Robertson and Connell got a chance though.

Reno Piscopo, truthfully the first Left Winger I thought off from Australia the only other Winger that comes too mind (that isn’t the Wong side of 30) is Daniel Arzani and we badly need atleast one Winger.

Keanu Baccus, so in looking for Defensive Mids this guy came up supposedly can cover in both Full Back slots and Centre Back but like McGree would rather our youth get a chance.

Milos Degenek, this guy for Centre Back I 100% would be ok with in fact I would prefer him over most of the * we are linked with might be too pricey if we’re looking too spend cheap though.

Aaron Mooy, well he needs no introduction but with losing Broony, Ntcham, Christie and possibly Bitton we are gonna need some experience in midfield even if only as back up.

Serdar Dursun - 29 year old experienced out of contract striker that scored 27 league goals in Bundesliga 2 last season.

That’s the sorta guys we should be looking at.

Be surprised if we could get Souttar prized away from Stoke. He’s highly rated there and they expect him to get picked up by a premier league team eventually, contract doesn’t expire until 2025. So they would expect top dollar for him.

We need so many players it's * ridiculous but I get the sinking feeling we won't get the 10 or so we need may get about 3 new players and make do with what is already here

Time to go exotic, down to Brazil. Claudinho 24 AM, apparently available for €10m with interest from Europe but no offers. Looking at this lad, we’d be able to sell for double to the PL after a year.
