Celtic star Jack Hendry has agreed a three year deal with KV Oostende - but likely to be sold for a quick profit after Euro 2020.

The Belgium side confirmed several weeks ago that they were going to take up the option that was part of their loan agreement with Celtic .

KV have thrashed out terms with Hendry and are set to pay the £1.5 million transfer fee that is due to his current club.

The Jupiler League outfit are aware there is significant interest in the Scot and are they could make a significant profit on their summer investment.

Hendry is currently away with Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad as they finalise their Euro 2020 preparations

The defender, who scored in the recent friendly against Holland, is already attracting big interest from a number of top clubs across Europe.

Belgian sides OH Leuven, who have a link up with Leicester City, and Genk are also interested in Hendry who was one of the league’s top players last season.

KV would be delighted if Hendry were to make use of their long-term contract but knows that now looks unlikely.

More incompetence by the board. Shock horror. Could have called him back and recouped are own money or profit. Bunch of * * that’s missing their balls.

It will have been a legally-binding agreement mate.

I despise the board but don't think they could've done much different. If Oostende offered £1.5m last summer we would all have been heehawing.

I think there's a good chance part of his agreement with Oostende is a share of the next transfer fee and that will have been a carrot.

I'm sick of this "sell on percentage" nonsense. As if it's a good compromise. How often has that actually worked in our favour? VVD and Wanyama? Can't think of any others. In reality we are selling players for less than they are worth with the hope they will do well elsewhere.

It's looking quite likely that Hendry will be starting for Scotland in the Euros. So, unless he has an absolute nightmare, you can slap an extra £5m onto his pricetag. I've got a feeling this is going to go down as one of the worst pieces of business Celtic have done in the modern era. Time will tell.

So is he away or is he still here.... Just cause they want to activate the buy doesn't mean he will go

not buying into the whole Hendry stuff - he played in a league in which the other side of Glasgow beat teams in the last few years with ease.

After the euros we will see how good a player Hendry really is, he didn't do it in the hoops top - in a much better team than we are these days. so if he cant do it with better players around him how could he come into the team now and stop the rot?

Better players out there in my opinion.

All the best in his career and good luck to him in the euros.

Lawwell has been * not been doing his job properly allowing a host of players to go into their final year of their contract and going to cost us millions because he knew he was leaving and any bonuses coming his way he should get * all because he's * up .

welcome to capitalism - football isn't a sport, it is a word wide business - players don't play for nothing or buttons, they don't kiss the badge, the board are only concerned in impressing buddies and holiday homes with an easy life. The only ones who get * over are the fans - it will continue that way until a worldwide drastic change.

The biggest mistake was not keeping on Rodgers and backing and supporting him to guarantee the 10, and keeping lennon in place for so long.

I am happy the clear out has started - for the last 2 + years we have been * and our away record in Europe is a joke, and at home in the league and Europe we has lost our 'fortress'. time to change and rebuild we need the money to rebuild which we are entitled to!! The fans need to make the voice heard loud and clear in a non abusive manner.

Come back after the Euros - where did Hendry develop this delusion of grandeur ? You seen him in a hoops top, only duffy and Kenny has been worse in a hoops top in recent years defensively speaking.

Letting go of Pukki was more of a mistake.

Take the money and look into Europe for a better improved centre half - Scandinavia or Balkan areas do rightly - pity our scouting network is balls and we seem to rely of championship manager or fans for players to line up for the club. blame cost cutting for that and blood sucking agents.

I would never write off any Celtic player after only 1 season, where he wasn't even a first team regular. Especially since he was, what, 22/23? It's quite well known CBs tend to take longer to reach their potential due to how important experience is.

There are plenty of examples of CBs at Celtic alone that looked terrible to begin with but came good. Kelvin Wilson and Gary Caldwell, off the top of my head. I'm fairly sure Mjallby wasn't even getting a game until Martin O'Neill arrived. There will undoubtedly be other examples.

Anyway, the point is, putting that clause in the contract was a mistake. We could have negotiated a better price if we hadn't added that in, sold him ourselves, or gave him a 2nd chance. This is a bad deal. I'm certain.

Pukki? Biggest shitebag to wear a Celtic shirt. Lad was afraid of his own shadow on the pitch.

yep didn't suit the Scottish game - but now averaging a goal in every 2 games for Norwich - should we have put a clause in about a minimum fee when he was sold etc.. no one has a crystal ball.

players fit with certain clubs, some moves work, some don't. always risk and reward works both ways.

if he was good enough he would have started more games, and the games he played he didn't do anything of merit etc..
did you write duffy off after one season? or Kenny and laxalt for half a season - only loan players but the option to buy or extend their loans. If Hendry plays against England be interesting to see how much he is really worth up against kane and foden etc..

If you look at welsh and Hendry - welsh looks the better prospect but even for me welsh is too slow on the turn and still pretty raw, both players are not European standard, and in big games both will crumble. at the back we need a leader who is strong, quick on the turn and good in the air.

we could have got 5 million for him, but in the long run do you think the club will use the money for the transfer kitty... we haven't seen any of the Frimpong or polish paddy money. we will bring in 1/2 signings and 3/4 loan players and that is why we look a fractured team with no unity, team spirit or fight. It is the wrong type of model for any club going forward.

It doesn't sit right with me that a team can sign a player and immediately sell them on.

The guy is * crap, he won't be going for anymore than 4 mil and its a false 4 million because as soon as he goes to a half decent side he's gonna get found out for the riddy that he is.

1.5m is a good deal for us, EVERYONE would of taken this last year. Off ye go son and good luck because you'll need it.

It was common knowledge that Oostende intended to re-sell & Hendry would have been in agreement as he had the option of signing or returning to Celtic.
The Belgian league is not a big money league so Oostende wold jump at the chance of a 5 mil profit.
    Well Done to them.

To be fair I would say that is probably correct in terms of there been a sell on clause. As much as I am critical of the board they have been good about inserting sell on clauses. Plus as you rightly say we all would happily taken the 1.5m last summer and moved on.
