They’re the favourite s mate but there’s certainly a chance we could win the league next year, mind in 2000 * like Charlie Nicholas n co saying we were at least 5 years behind rangers, new manager shrewd buys and we blew them away, granted we spent a lot but so did they and was a far better Huns team then than now

most people including most Huns were saying at the start of the season “ no chance they were winning the league “ absolutely romped it

seen Huns playing st Johnstone last 2 games of the season totally matched them home n away
    Definitely doable

If Kennedy won all his games he would have been manager, I have absolutely no doubt about it cause they are cheap *.

I just think this deal for Ange is dragging on a bit.

The problem with that is we're needing a good start and he's just gonna be in the door for the start of pre season and needing over half a team..

No just that but before our season starts he'll likely be on the backfoot after we're papped out of the champions league qualifiers..

People quoting andy maher sen journo about muscat? Maher is the worst sports journo in oz.muscat was never on the cards.
I was excited when postecoglou was mentioned for your club.this is taking too long.why the club dont release an update beggars belief
Time is being wasted and it seems like the decision makers are inept.
No wonder your club is not settled and ready to go

If we are really going to hire this * as our manager then so be it. Just get it * done already. Nevertheless I am very unhappy with this guy. Think he is massively unproven and inexperienced. It isn’t because he is from Australia. It is more because his CV is quite * to be honest. Any * could take Australia to a WC like a said, even John Kennedy would be able to. He has not been a consistent winner and he surely would never have experienced anything like the pressures of the Celtic job. I honestly would prefer Roy Keane and a few months ago I would have said no * way to Roy Keane. But desperate times and he’d be here tomorrow if we’d give him the job today. Would not need to quarantine and has the UEFA badges FFS. But most importantly he could handle the pressure and understand what this job involves.

About 45 days to qualifiers we don't have a decent keeper Ralston is our only right back and Welsh and bitton only centre halfs and Griff and Ajeti only forwards .
We still don't know what structure the club is going for as we don't have a DOF or head of recruitment at this minute and may as well forget Europe this season as the board have * our chances with their incompetence and unforgivable in the supporters eyes and the new manager needs a magic wand if we win anything this season .

    Here the whole time
In 2000 we appointed an actual world class manager who was already in a job with a Premier league team, and in demand elsewhere. That manager inherited a side that contained Paul lambert, Jackie McNamara, Johan mjallby, lubomir moravcik and Henrik larsson, repeat for effect, Henrik larsson.

That manager was not hindered by constraints of a transfer window and was allowed to spend £6m chris Sutton, £3.5m joos valgaeren, £2.5m Alan Thompson, £1m rab Douglas and £6m Neil lennon. Almost £20m, over 20 years ago. If postecoglou is to be the next manager, and that's still a massive if, he will be lucky to see that amount for what is,arguably, the biggest rebuild in the clubs history.

Sensible comparisons cannot be made between then and the situation we find ourselves in now.

Where did this Ange bhoy come from? We went from Roy Keane to Eddie Howe to Ange. What is this all about? And as stated above we are still manager less

Yeah but at least you opened your mind up to the appointment as opposed to the closed minded cuntz. At least you asked questions and debated with reasoned points rather than just say no. Your position was no to start with but you asked people to change your mind. Those that think this was a good appointment failed at that, but that’s ok, because at the end of the day, it’s only when Ange’s football is played will we know the answer to whether he’s a good appointment or not :50:

If it is to be Postecoglou, I hope it's announced as soon as possible so he can start shaping the team in his vision.

Hello Peej from Melbourne. Imagine the joy of Celtic supporters watching a young team of Scots promoted from the Reserve side unleashed and determined to show their worth in the first team. You don't need mega dollars to produce good players playing together in a successful team. In fact they will create wealth for the club in the years to come with their successes on the field. They also will be playing for their people in the terraces with all their heart. Add to this also some astute buying of players to add experience, flair , stability, and the right spine to the squad and you have a formidable team. You will have players' running through walls' for the team and their coach, with their enthusiasm spurred on by their supporters.

Look at Man Utd - Giggs, Beckham,Scholes, Neville, etc all came from the Reserves and the Academy.
Barcelona's successes and ongoing wealth also came from their youth program - Iniesta, Raul, Pujol etc.
Santos in Brazil the same, having a great local scouting system.
Derby County under Clough were an amazing team to watch under his guidance and management in the way he shaped them.Again a combination of youth and experience led by Mackay as captain.
Ipswich Town under Bobby Robson was an incredible side to watch. Again the coaching and management was the key, not the buying of expensive players.
    Ajax Amsterdam under Rinuus Michaels.

    Celtic FC under Jock Stein.

As an aside, Melbourne has a connection with Scotland and Celtic FC. Apart from having a huge Celtic fan base here, Australia v Scotland, second leg for the World Cup qualifier, was played here at Olympic Park to a capacity crowd. The result was 0-0. Scotland got through that year based on the 2-0 result win in the first leg in Glasgow. In fact Frank Arok the Australian coach at the time, wanted the game to be played in the heat and humidity of Darwin to give us an advantage , being so close to World Cup qualification, but our football federation were not keen on the idea. Good idea Frank !

Finally, and many former Celtic FC players will recall, Celtic were on a close season tour and came to Melbourne to play in a tournement against three other teams. Red Star Belgrade was one, and the others I believe may have been Man City and Dynamo Moscow. I will need to look it up. The Celtic v Red Star match was a torrid game with great football but with all the aspects of an Old Firm derby, no quarter was given by either side and played to a packed Olympic Park.

Those were the days! Every year great teams came to play against the Victoria state squad. Roma, Man Utd, Chelsea, Man City, Cruzeiro of Brasil with Tostao, Juventus, Milan FC, Olympiakos of Greece, AEK of Greece, New York Cosmos, Benfica, Torpedo Moscow, and others.

I'm more sceptical but I'll get behind him and we'll see how we go.

I'm not expecting miracles (I can see why the Huns are odds-on for the title) but he's an intelligent/experienced guy - he must know that he needs to show enough to the fans within 6 months to at least convince us he's worth persevering with.

If we come good - I'll be delighted and only to happy to admit that my scepticism was misplaced.

If we have another season like the last one and he's moved on at the end of it - will the Aussies who are singing his praises admit that they were wrong or will we get excuses about not being given enough time etc?

I'm just saying that he clearly understands the size of the club, the current situation and the expectations - if he's given a season (fair enough imo) and we are still * - then he can't complain if he gets the sack.

They knew there was a massive rebuild coming with loads of our match day regulars leaving. At least a scout to bring in frees or low youth compensation signings. Some will say the manager needs to sign these guys but as it stands we can barely stick out 11 players. As it stands our starting xi (without Eddy and Ajer) Barkas, Ralston, Welsh, Hjelde, Taylor, Forrest, McGregor, Soro, Turnbull, Johnstone and Ajeti. Just a couple to at least give options.

I'm not sure what exactly we've won in the past 18 years but in the past 10 we've won 9 leagues and 4 trebles. The last year was an absolute disaster - the board, management and players were all culpable and we needed changes which we will have - new manager and half the team will be different. But you can't say the past 18 years haven't been successful. We're financial minnows in Europe and will struggle there until the financial structure of European football changes (which it probably never will).
