I want to be convinced, but I can't come round.

I just don't see this working out. With proper investment in defence and a manager who spends time reviewing tactics both pre match and post Celtic could win the league right back.

With Ange, all I'm hearing about is an overzealous attacking style of play which will likely mean no serious investment in defence and losing the league in a season we can't afford to.

I don't want to hear about rebuild this, rebuild that.... We are celtic, league titles are a bare * minimum of the club

Squadwise, it´s the worst time for any new manager to come in. I dread to think of what our starting XI will look like come the qualifiers.

Now is not the time to take a gamble on a manager who´s never managed in Europe. It might work out, but the odds are stacked against Ange big time. This has got heartbreak written all over it, in bold letters.

By each passing day, it gets harder to even try and comprehend the size of the trouble the club is in.

When is the right time to take a gamble on manager?

Going for 10 it's definitely not, if we won 10 we'd be going for 11 and I'm pretty positive fans would say the same it's not the right time.

"We lost 11 because the risk of a new manager and how much success we've had over the past decade." Is what I imagine I'd hear.

Right now is the perfect time, we've got a huge turnover in players, the next manager will get to sign players that suits there style (I really hope) and they aren't stuck with a squad that don't really want to be here or have been here so long and dominated so long they've began to lose that hunger.

I'm not discrediting the guy. He seems to have done a very good job where ever he goes. Infact he may be a success and his teams play very nice stuff.

Its more of a risk than usual though. When its such a rebuild, going to a place where he doesn't know any players to bring in personally, and having to rely on celtics 3 * scouts to rebuild a team for him. Then mould them into an outfit that knows whats its doing, and win the league at the first time of asking over a corrupt SPL and dodgy refs where one team gets 10+ points extra a season. Personally I don't think he knows what he's got coming.

I hope were out there playing great, blowing everyone away again. Infact the players that are left are 100% better than last season, so a few good signings and it may all just work. The question hes to ask, will the 3 celtic scouts who don't have a driving license, who scout via football manager in England only, manage to build a team for a manager with zero European player knowledge?

But I suppose when we are that bad last season, he will be a success in terms of It can't get worse can it? :fear:

I really think any manager that has ambition and belief in their own ability would jump at the opportunity to basically build a new side. They could get huge exposure and credit if it goes well.

Is my thinking off here, when I believe Celtic will announce this as close as they can to the Euro's starting, to keep it low key as possible due to their catastrophic handling of the situation and selection. Less media attention, less questions and scrutiny.

Whole situations stinks of classic Celtic. Cheap, nepotistic and short termism for the few only.

Celtic boards nepotistic ways....look after themselves, doing things cheap, no communication to fans, announce close to Euros meaning less scrutiny for them etc etc.

Just read something about him that he has only ever wont the 'league' in Australia twice but they go in to play offs at the end of the year and it is those play offs he has won 4 times.

    No idea if that's true

It's arguably came from our links with CityGroup or through a Fergal Harkin recommendation.

There's no chance this board is scouring the world for managerial talent. Everything that's happened has shown how under-prepared they are.

It's true. At the end of the season the top 6 clubs play knifey spooney for the Championship.

I’ve no faith in Celtic anymore. Obviously I want Celtic to succeed and Ange if he comes here, but we needed guaranteed quality. Celtic needed to show ambition and sign a household name manage we know would help us turn it around. We failed at that and now are signing this fella. Lazy and indifferent from the men in charge yet again

My point wasn't about whether Ange is the right guy or not.

He may or may not be successful we'll find out soon enough.

My point was more, when is a better time to take a risk on a manager? I personally can't think of a much better time.

As for the scouts, you don't need a driving license these days they have access to pretty much every game they need, it's all on tv. And I can guarantee you they don't do their scouting on football manager, though FM data is pretty good and well researched.

Whether they're actually good scouts is a different question to be fair though.
