Wasn't at all insinuating other wise, making the point if it was football related it would be done by a special breed of moron, who would likely not keep their trap shut.

As opposed to something more organised.

I thought he did a good job under tight financial restraints till maybe rodgers left but he's obviously been one of the biggest problems in our club. Zero ambition and a *.

He’s done a terrible job IMO.

I don’t think we’ve won a European knockout tie since he took the reigns (maybe the first year) and his last 4 appointments have been Lennon x2, Deila and Mowbray.

That’s before we get into the debacle regarding Champions League qualification, costing the club 100m+.

When he arrived we had MON as manager and a team capable of giving Europe’s best a decent game.
Anyone thinking he’s done a decent job needs to compare that to what we are now- a * laughing stock.

Agree with you all now, I was maybe blind to it all due to being quite young still when o'neill left and Strachan era seemed like they over achieved which really shouldnt be the case.

True, needed. But that's what I mean by more than one way.

At first I do agree it needed drastic cuts, things were massively out of control in reality - specially hindsight with how football finances developed elsewhere in Europe. We simply would not have been able to continue at that level (and expanded with the other clubs).

But there became a limit and we are about 14 years beyond that limit now.

The amount of money we have missed out due to PL and the board refusing to push the boat out a little bit is unreal.

100% mate, he never got out of that mindset and pushed on. Kept it at just the level he thought would bring success, and it worked but it was frustrating. He got insanely arrogant, and misjudged majorly leading up to the shambles we seen this season.

I think he perfected what he should be under WGS. Because when we we had the budget under control we did then stretch it for the likes of Gravesen and JVoH.

We got back to that in BR’s first season doing so for Sinclair and Dembele and even dishing out good money after that with Julien and Eddy. That was his death throes though.

Totally agree with the points during his tenure there.

Had he continued at those levels, we would be 120m+ better off today (accumulatively).

The one that always strikes me as absolutely baffling was us getting to the last 16, having that cash, selling £25m odd of players and not pushing on after that under Lennon. BR would never have happened if he did I think but we had an opportunity to cement ourselves into the CL for a while at that point and we cut ourselves off at the knees again.

    Kyogo. A phenomenon
Doesn’t report to the fans, never has, and therefore care concerns were and are non existent.

Find it quite funny anyone believes a banner makes 1 iota of a * - he’s away anyway

The standard of football in the last few years is part and parcel of Scottish football being * dreadful, lacking finance, and despite the incredible fan support the revenue being incapable of supporting a model where 40k a week for a player is possible outwith a rare instance.

    Elsewhere?

Bog standard salary. In itself outrageous, but a market fact.

Anyone who believes lawwell is responsible for us not being in the champions league each season is off their *.

The reason is we are a big fish, in a VEEY small pond with nae dosh to buy players of any genuine quality.

Let’s be honest - every season, the gulf in finances gets bigger - as does the gulf in class.

This season has been a * omnishambles - but it’s been coming. Using the fish analogy again, we have been swimming at the top of the tank for years.

just not very good - and in modern day football, our wage budget doesn’t allow for much more.

scouting also in the modern day - every hslf decent side has a good network. Try persuading anyone to play in Dingwall in * January.

    it’s a hard sell

The teams that consistently pump us out of Champions League Qualifiers have smaller budgets than us. Every year we * about and * about with transfers. We don’t do our business early even though it is clear we need to strengthen certain positions. We then get embarrassed, and then bring in players when it’s too late. Maribor, Ferenczvaros, Cluj, Malmö. All teams who operate on a lesser budget than us. I get that you won’t win every one of the games against these teams, but we should have qualified far more regularly than we have done. Lack of finances in the playing squad has been the biggest problem and has cost us millions.

One big pile of nonsense that post.

The teams that have knocked us out of the Champions League qualifiers all have a lower budget than us - with the exception of Arsenal:

Artmedia Bratislava, Arsenal, Braga, Legia Warsaw, Maribor, Malmö, AEK Athens, Cluj, Ferencvaros.

That's the result of going into qualifiers under-prepared in almost every single season. Even in the years we managed it under Rodgers we were playing Bitton & O'Connell at the back for lack of options.

When he took over we were in a European Final going toe-to-toe with the winners of the Champions League the following season; now we're the draw that every unseeded team wants. That is his legacy.

0 wins in knockout rounds after Christmas during his whole 18 year tenure.

Finances had to be brought under control certainly but it's not just about how much you spend, it's about how you spend it and the evidence is all there that we've wasted fortunes under his stewardship.

And while Celtic's standing in Europe goes on a trajectory down, there's another contrasting thing that goes on a trajectory upward...
