Moyes will have one eye on a return to Everton, he will be watching to see if Ancelotti goes back to Real Madrid.

It's not a coincidence that the deal collapsed just after Zidane left Madrid. Everton was the one team I thought would scupper the deal because he's an Everton fan

Honestly at this stage it needs to be to stop the rot and steady the ship. Give me a strong management team..

    Keane/Duff
    Strachan/Maloney
    Larsson/Mjalby
    MON/Duff

    Short term incentivised contract.
The board have made a royal mike hunt of this summer.

Right now id take experience and knowledge of the game and most importantly someone who wants ro be here and who will give their all to getting us back to the top again.

    I think I would take O’Neil/Duff or Larsson/Mjalby.

We just need someone in pronto.

None of those should be anywhere near the Celtic job.

If it's a strong management team then I'd genuinely rather go for Sam Allardyce than any of those.

And that would make me feel sick if he was to get it.

    Why? Because of age?

All of them knows what it takes to win titles and all are more or as qualified as Postecoglou.

The more this * show drags on, the less options available to us and the less people will actually want the role with so limited time to build a squad.

we are not fighting to stay up, so we shouldnt go for big sam.

theres no guarentee a young “new era” coach would be any kind of success and at the moment the aim should be re-securing a steady footing/base asap.

Not really to do with age. Larsson and Keane aren’t old.

None of them are good enough any more. MON’s last successful job in club football was a decade ago. Strachan’s last success in club football was at us 15 years ago. Keane’s was 13 years ago at Sunderland.

In what way is Larsson as, or more, qualified than Postecoglou in managing a football team? His time as a manager has been a bit of a disaster has it not? The last time he was in talks to manage a club was with Southend two years ago.

So 3 guys who have done * all in club football for a decade or more. And one guy who has just simply done * all in club football as a manager.

Like I said, if it’s a strong manager you want then surely Allardyce, Pulis or Warnock would be better shouts than any of them? And any of those would be miserable appointments.

It’s not even up for debate

There is no chance we will win next season when we can’t even appoint a manager.
    While they tool up.

And it’s not like they’ve won two or three titles and it’s likely they’ll lose players. We all know it was a freak season - everyone knows that their success was due to the corona season, and they’ll only lose players when they turn games against Celtic - not turning us over easily and everyone else beating by the odd goal or two.

We’re hoping for fortunes to turn season after next. Not next season. Not with the way we’ve handled it since season end.

If we’re going for bottom of the barrel prospective *; I’d have a look at the Barnsley manager, done a great job there on 0 budget and 0 quality. Exactly what we have here

Just read that Ancellotti was on 11.5 million quid a year at Everton with a 2.5 million bonus in the first year if they avoided relegation !!!

Howe had no connection with Celtic or our fans and lots of negatives about taking the job:

He would be daft not to go for it !

Yeh , but for us to truly start beating them again we have to admit they have got much better this season , if we believe its other reasons we will always have the wrong attitude against them .

Not that I don’t rate Howe highly because I do but I would have thought Everton would have been able to pull out a Conte/Ragnick/Benitez level of manager. (I know they wouldn’t go for Rafa, just emphasising the name)

Bro Conte just won the Serie A, don't insult him like that haha! Agree with the Rafa level suggestion though.

    In bold, spot on.

Being from Sweden, I´ve followed Larsson´s attempts closely. Sorry to say, they´ve been disasters. Make no mistake, most football minded people in Sweden would love to see Larsson succeed, but from what I´ve seen, he simply just isn´t up to it. In my opinion, he´s in a long line of former players not cut out for management. I´d go as far and say that he wouldn´t be at Barcelona had it not been for his name. Genuinely nice guy, but never a manager. The same goes for Johan Mjällby btw.

with the exception of Larsson. But all of those names mentioned have something that Postecoglou hasnt and that is experience winning in the Scottish game in some capacity.

you are being quite selective in your assessment of MON and Strachan. Both came a baw hair from qualifying for major tournaments in recent years against the odds. Whilst i didnt buy Strachans excuses, (or his decision to play Barry Bannan over John McGinn) Scott Brown gave him a lot of praise and said all the players were behind him and wanted him to remain.

What Strachan achieved with us should never be understated and MON made us a force in europe after the farce that was left behind.

I didnt say in a permanent contract, we need urgency and action at the moment because time is of the essence and for me all would provide stability again and take immediate action to start getting us back on an even footing and get us ready for european campaign and domestic games.

Postecoglou effectively has to come in, self isolate, replace the outgoing players, get the squad ready, become acquainted with the scottish game and work with a coaching team that probably wont even be of his choosing which could completely undermine his approach/philosophy.
Would he hold any kind of leverage over the board? Would the players show him the respect when things go wrong?
The circumstances are not even fair on him.
I almost feel sorry for him because he speaks of wanting a chance and wanting to put Ozzie coaches on the radar and get them the recognition they deserve.

if he got the job i will back him and hope for the best for him as i would any celtic manager.

but say it for what it is. The very fact he is potentially going to be our new manager is lunacy.
