if the rumors are true that Shaun will be coming on board, either as his assistant or in another "strategic football role" I'll be over the * moon.

This would be something that would allay my fears about Posteglocou's temperament and euro inexperience

As an ozzy I would love to see AP manage your club I truly would as I know he will bring success and a brand of football that You guys will really enjoy week in week out. However it WILL take time to embed his philosophy on the team (same as pep at city) and going by the reaction from this chat he simply would not be afforded time which is a shame. So now I’m in two minds great club wrong time maybe IDK. Good ozzy managers are few and far between AP is by faaaaar the best we have ever seen in Australia so I do hope if he takes the role you give him some level of support.. everywhere that he has gone watching from the outside he has stripped back the club/roster and rebuilt it to meet his standards and has always been a success and left the place in better shape then what he inherited. Maybe just maybe it’s what Celtic needs ATM.‍♂️

Would prefer if it was as his assistant.

Unsure about him as a DoF with no previous experience in that manner.

That may be so but if the board is truly * then no manager will achieve any great heights unfortunately

“But don’t just take my word for it, here’s what Brendan Rodgers had to say about him back in 2013, long before he had won the 2015 Asian Cup with Australia, or the J-League title with Yokohama F. Marinos in 2019.

“Their coach is outstanding,” Rodgers said. “I’ve had a couple of chats with him, and to see his team play, he’s very similar to myself and he believes the game should be played in a certain way.”

At the time Rodgers was in the hot seat at Liverpool, with the Reds in Australia to take on Postecoglou’s Melbourne Victory in a pre-season friendly. “You can see the team is very well coached, so we knew it was going to be a tough game for us.” “

That's a good article - thanks for that. However, I think the key words in that article are "if he is given time". Especially if he is teaming up with someone who (presumably) he hasn't worked with before.

I don't know the whole story (or much to be honest) about why he left but I 100% agree with you on Foster. I watched him a few times on SBS when I first came to Aussie and couldn't understand why they employed him a resident analyst. When you listen to him, you'd think he played at the top level in the world and won loads of honours - neither of which he did.

I haven't listened to him in a long time. To be honest, I've never watched this interview with him and Ange - I don't need to, I know which one is the *.

I think the “if he’s given time” thing could be a tad overdone TBH. It seems like there’s a big change in staff coming anyway.

With Fergal Harkin rumoured to be the incoming DoF, this has the makings of a flying start. Seems as though Harkin wants his man as the manager before confirmation of him coming. Harkin it seems has plenty knowledge of the UK/European market and the contacts through his roles in the City Group.

Ange will no doubt communicate what is needed to Harkin and both being ex City Group employees will have an understanding of what is and isn’t needed. The timing of moving on a number of players is perfect to out with the old and in with the new.

Thinking out loud about back room staff, I would think Harkin could have someone identified with the right badges or Ange himself could no doubt have a trusted offsider such as a Harry Kewell or the likes.

Ange, a guy with a unique tactical style and years of experience including world cups to a 38 year old former Celtic/Villa/Wigan player who is currently a line coach under Martinez for Belgium and someone whom hasn't come close to managing his own side.

Would be an incredible own goal by Celtic.

No doubt some on here would think he is a better option though

    absolutely.

As far as i know, Maloney has or is near finishing his pro licence.

This gives him the ability to be assigned the head coach in the event Ange isn't allowed to be named head coach for Euro fixtures, a la Parma.

But more importantly, it keeps Lennedy out if the loop so to speak. He wouldnt be required and even if the board insist on keeping him on with the first team, his influence wouldn't only be limited but negated, by Maloney's very presence.

And, (I hope it really doesn't), IF the appointment goes * up, we have Maloney there to step into the breach, much more preferable than that lazy chimp Kennedy.

In many ways I'd actually be very interested to see if Maloney would work out as a manager in his own right. His reputation on the continent is impeccable.

It would be a real coup to have him assistant manager, and a great safety net too.

foster never missed a chance to have a dig at Celtic.

Loved the open letter from Terry Butcher to foster in 2006. Defo worth a read.

No rush Celtic, plenty of time. Don't want to make any rash decisions that may make us look fools or amateurish.

Wasn't aware Aaron Mooy or Ajdin Hrustic played for Celtic.
