I think the majority of us on here would have gotten out of that team what he did, aye. Given the resources he had (usual board stinginess not withstanding) the relative lack of competition, and the fact that he was pretty switched-on to the modern game and its insistence on peak fitness, etc, he should have achieve a lot, lot more than what he did, especially in Europe, but also in the domestic cups. The defensive poverty of his side was galling to watch, and his lack of a Plan B suicidal.

Believe it or not, I liked Deila, and felt he needed better support around him, but insofar as he was capable, he should have made a lot more changes; changes that many fans - let alone actual football professionals - knew needed made.

Let's not kid on that he was a real success. He managed the basics of the time, but only just.

Nah man don’t get me wrong I’m not saying that Ange is a better choice than pre Rodgers signing ... I’m just saying with his trophy call, I’m dialling back on myself with my comments that he’s no Mark: he a winner - and facts are facts. Rodgers wasn’t a winner when he hired him - coming to Celtic made him a winner. Same with Lennon. What’s to say it won’t be the same with Ange.

Also after Lennon it would be a breath of fresh air to have a proper football manager back in the dugout. Haha. Agreed?

So we shouldn't be aiming to win the cups or qualify for Europe?

Did you read my first post on this thread that I said this is reminiscent of Venglos? I haven't been on board with this from the beginning but I am starting to like the idea.
What does the qualifications have to do with it? he will get them if needed

It's not a difficult concept to grasp.

If Deila was a successful Celtic manager, he would not have been asked to stand down from the role.

He needed them yesterday and he hasn't got them though that is the point. As I say from what I've read and granted it could be * but you can appoint someone as a manager if they're going through the course at the time of appointment which Ange isn't

Sorry, I mean, we all know that bs is your chosen style, but are you really as stupid as to think that someone answering, 'could you do better?', and 'would you be given the job?' is answering the same question?

Dk why tf I took you off ignore. I ask again admins, what does this guy have to do to get a ban? Constantly at the windup in every thread he enters.

Why do you believe the board shouldnt be slated for their performance you bankier in disguise * sake what do you not see .... pre season starts in 3 weeks and we are rolling into another week with out a Manager Lennon was sacked 3 months ago how much more time do they need
Still no dof which I think is more important because they should have a say in the manager absolute * hour preparation is key who ever is coming in does not have time on their side which bewilders me as we have known about this for sometime now

RD was successful in the respect that he won 2 titles, but he wasn't the answer, contex is needed as there was no competition at the time.

    Just cant get enough
There have been a lot of posts on here since Friday so I don’t remember who posted what.
I actually fully agree with you that this appointment is Venglos-esque.
His qualifications matter because he needs to have them to do the job. I read today (don’t know if this this is true) that it could take over a year. I’m sure our board are well on top of this though.

You can keep repeating yourself, it doesn't make the argument any stronger.

The bookies had us at 1/50 to win those Leagues. Our wage bill was 9 times that of our closest competitor Aberdeen.

Winning the League was part of his remit but it wasn't going to be the barometer of success he was judged against. He failed hopelessly in Europe and in the domestic Cups in his 2nd season.
