Surely comparing points per game at Celtic vs points per game at Yokohama or Brisbame Roar is folly?

Those teams are playing week in week out against opposition with similar budgets, We play against teams that our budget and quality dwarf. You cant expect the PPG to match. Its apples and oranges really.

And no that doesn't mean im saying the Celtic job is easier, of course not, it's a harder job. But it's different

Big Sam is available. Proper British coach, very defensively sound and managed some decent clubs :39:

In all honesty if he was European he would have been snapped up a long time ago. Unfortunately our coaches are not rated at all but to tell you the truth playing

Im sure Brown as been doing his as well while still playing.

You absolutely need the A and B before the Pro one and that will take time. You need to work with youth players etc and achieve each one.

Now I’m not 100% on what the ins and outs are but I know someone who is currently still playing here in England who is coaching Liverpool’s under 15 so he can get his badges.

There is a process and if this fella doesn’t have any then it’s going to cause problems.

For what it's worth Stuart Baxter has a similar points per game total and has managed over 100 more games and has also won obscure leagues including the Japanese league and had international success

I am a little bit surprised at how little research has been done by the forum members on Ange Postecoglou's coaching credentials. There are plenty of youtube video's on his time at Melbourne Victory, his time at Yokohoma, a documentary done by Japanese TV, countless other coaches opinions on Postecoglou including Arteta and Pep. He has been coaching since his early 30's no less under the tutelage of one Ferenc Puskas. Forget the coaching badges for a moment. The coaches in Australia do their coaching badges but for some reason they are not recognised by Europe but they are essentially the same curriculum as what the coaches of Europe go through. Its one of those quirks that I am sure our Football Federation has asked to corrected but for whatever reason hasn't been. The badges are just merely a formality. We are talking about someone with 25+ years of coaching at Seniors, world cups, junior development, Asian cups, winning titles in Australia and Japan. What more would you like, do you think getting a badge would make him anymore qualified.

He will revel in this situation, people writing him off before he has begun. Just listen to what I am saying.

HE IS A GOOD COACH, HE HAS WON EVERYWHERE HE HAS GONE. HE WILL DO WELL AT CELTIC.

He isnt my cup of tea personally, he is flexible but there are times where he is very stubborn and like all coaches believes in his methods 100%. If you didnt believe in your way of playing football and you change your style for every single team you played then guess what, you dont have a philosophy. He has played many different formations and has tactital nous, he has been in plenty of situations where he has had to think his way through games. I personally think his style is a little bit too cavalier, but there is method to the madness and he does bring an entertaining way of playing football. You will either love him or hate him but I think he would be a great fit. Even though you might not have heard of him. You can find plenty on him. Start digging and form a more rounded opinion, its out there in internet land.

He has managed and won honours at International level. He has won multiple titles in Australia as well as the J League. The guy has some pedigree and it's nonsense to just dismiss him as a * because he hasn't got UEFA badges.

If it's possible to get his badges while he coaches here I don't see the issue. If that's not possible, we move to the next target. Simples.

The more I look in to him the more it puts me off him tbh. It's all well and good having people say nice things or knowing the best in the business but in reality that counts for nothing.

Looking at his stats at Yokohama he's been in charge for 159 games and won 80 of them. He won less than half of the games he was in charge of Australia granted I don't expect them to tear up trees at world cups. He won less than half of his games at Melbourne Victory and has a win % of just over 50% at Brisbane Roar. Add on top of that almost everyone is saying he will need time (he wont get time) and his own player in Jackson Irvine described his style of play as 'hectic'.

I feel the comparison with Stuart Baxter is quite fair as they have both had international success and managed in obscure leagues.

There should be a work around for guys with relevant experience. The Pro Licence route should be a way for young coaches without the relevant experience to train and get a qualification that they can take in to a job offer to prove some sort of training and competence to a prospective employer or for people coming into it as a career change to do the same thing. Much like an undergraduate doing a degree compared to a 60 year old that has worked in the role from say 15 y/o. The older guy will still be far better at the job due to his experience he just doesn't have a fancy certificate. Think it's a bit of a joke from UEFA tbh. Even universities will let you skip years of a course if you have relevant experience.

It’s always been a bit of a money maker for UEFA tbh

I appreciate that... but in this instance... I don’t want a ‘workaround’. I want a manager we know will have a high chance of success.

    Not a maybe.

Exactly and it should be up to the employer if they want to take the risk on a guy that hasn't done his pro licence. UEFA shouldn't be meddling in that. Wee money spinner as you say. Pro Licence should be optional and the ones that would do it would be the ones that felt like they needed it. Either to get some experience or to try and get a job because they didn't have one or probably both.
