    Why would that be?

Australia is a continent you know, there's about a dozen different climate regions.

Regardless, most of our players are European based. So it's the exact same problem as it would be for any other European nation would have.

We've played in 45 degree games in Oman a few days after the likes of Rogic have played in freezing conditions in Glasgow.

When we have folk using the weather to justify Ange’s ability then we’re in a dodgy old place..

The oceania group before the change meant that all we had to do was beat new zealand and then play 5th placed south am team
Oceania was fiji, taiwan nz etc very poor.
Our teams were not good enough to get over uruguay who seemed to finish 5th every time.although argentina we did play one year and they were lucky to beat us

That would be relevant if the majority of our players play in Australia, they don't.

Bang on the money here. Qualification in Oceania was a breeze until we hit the South Americans in the playoff. Asia is "easier" but definitely more of a grind. There's more games in Asia which is good for the team as well.

Genuine question would you say there is now an expectation to quailfy as opposed to it being for want of a better phrase a big achievement to get there (like it is for Scotland) ?

It’s natural for so many supporters to try and scramble for the positives in this potential appointment. It’s admirable actually.

You could however have a list of positives about almost any potential manger if you decided to spin it the way you wanted.

I don’t blame the guy for taking the job and I’m sure he has some redeemable qualities, but I fear he is going to be the mother of all scapegoats.

He’ll be fed to the media and consequently our supporters will react as soon as things start to go inevitably pear shaped. He’ll be removed whilst our board take their bonuses and dividends then rinse and repeat.

It’s not even the appointment of Big Ange that is the problem here. Our club is being ran in to the ground from within. Celtic is at its lowest point as a club right now in my lifetime. An unfathomable situation we are in.

Anything but qualification is a failure in Asia.

He hasn't taken the job yet.

If the rumours are true that the board is split on his appointment you may find out soon what sort of man he is.

He isn't a yes man and if he doesn't have full buy in from the club on even the first hurdle (i.e his appointment) it wouldn't surprise me if he walked away from the offer.

It's always the weather's fault, or it's the travel time. Or players aren't getting enough games, or they're playing too much. Or the standard of competition is too high, or the players aren't getting tested against good enough competition.

It seems like Ange Postecoglou's greatest talent is coming up with excuses for why his tactical system only seems to result in success once in a blue moon, and defending his embarrassing results in the intervening years.

Listen, from reading your posts I know you’re either his agent or his best pal, but the whole ‘Big Ange takes nae * and isn’t a yes man’ act is wearing thin already.

Quite frankly at this point I don’t give a * if the next manager is Ange Postecoglou or Craig Brown as I’m so disillusioned with my club right now.

But stop trying to paint the guy as some form of prized asset that is so morally upstanding that it’s his way or no way. The guy would scran his own jobby to be our next gaffer, hence why he’s the perfect candidate for our board.

He would be wise to do so.

You think he would be a good appointment - I don't. That's fair enough - no point rehashing that (time will tell if he gets the job).

However, the real villains of this piece are the ****s on the Celtic board. I wouldn't trust them an inch. Even if they give him assurances - if things get rough, they will have no hesitation in using him as a scapegoat.

If that happens, judging by what you say - he'll tell them to stuff it and walk away.

If I was him I'd be very wary - if the board are split are reported - I don't see this ending well.

    What are you on about?

He won the Asian Cup and qualified for the World Cup.

It was a response to more than likely a Scottish fan * on Asian football. Australia would have probably wiped the floor with most Scottish sides of the last 2 decades. Not bad for a so called football backwater incapable of the tactical enlightenment that comes with growing up in the Scottish football leagues.

Regardless, his tactical system is much more suited to club football where he gets the players day in day out, rather than for a few days every few months.

Seriously, there is some amount of ignorant * being splattered in this thread, not to mention the sentiments being expoused as if there are those that are wanting the guy to fail - and this is even before he has been confirmed. Would think that whoever does end up in the job that Celtic supporters would want him to do well, because if the manager is successful it means that the team are successful.

Who needs the orcs from Ipox slinging * when there are Celtic fans willing to do it themselves?

This does not excuse in any way the manner in which Lawwell, Desmind & the Board have allowed this situation to evolve over the past few years, but actively wanting someone to fail even before they've stepped foot in the door, let alone taking into account his resume and IF Posticoglou even signs on.
