You're right. The board need to * off and be replaced by people who are, at a minimum, competent.

That's got nothing to do with Ange though. I'm not talking about the bigger picture of the shitshow of how our club is run.

Australia played the fifth placed south american side to qualify.the dates you have mentioned were teams with our best ever teams or our golden era with viduka, kewell cahill ,scwartzer aloisi, etc to name a few.
I think the top asian teams are on a par or better than 5th placed S.Am. team
I will.not be surprised if australia fail to qual this time around

I wouldn’t say cheap man, I can’t see the wages in the J-League being too shabby.

I have to disagree with the assessment of the calibre of manager.

Howe is certainly IN the group of managers we should be chassing, but he isn't the limit or the unique candidate. There are a wealth of managers of a similar calibre across the continent we should be chassing.

It should NOT be Howe or the massive drop down to Keane, Clark, Kennedy etc

Says the moon head that suggested Marsch, Sarri, Favre and Bentiez.

Edit: Sorry, I forgot to mention the recent Barcelona manager as well.

We were able to attract Howe, a club our size can attract good managers, the trouble is, the men running the club can just as easy chase the candidate straight back out the door again. That’s the problem here. We are not a tin pot diddy outfit. We are a massive club and a big draw for plenty out there, the problem is the people in charge, and their ambition, or should I say lack of it that is holding us back. The sad thing is, a lot of people are still falling for it. Which is incredible after what they have put us through this past year.

I agree. Like I said earlier, I would not swap this guy for Howe given the choice.

Tbh I'm not going to pretend I know enough about international football in that neck of the woods but would it be fair to say currently Australia and South Korea are big fishes in a small pond ?

I was meaning his wage in comparison to someone like Howe.

Yeah but nothing hes done comes anywhere near this, its one * of a jump up. Also he would get time and some wriggle room elsewhere, absolutely no chance that's happening here

I'll mention it again for the hard of * thinking. Howe was the man we all wanted my point was now that deal is off 3 months down the line the only thing that would appease supporters would be a 'name' I think all of those I mentioned are out of work and I also agree it's pie in the sky but it still doesn't change that it's the only thing that would get the support onside.

    95 days since Lennon left
    Maresca/Howe rumoured
7 weeks later Howe deal is off but still cash in for a day or 2 on season books
    Maresca already at Parma
    Still no DoF
Ange Postecoglu a man coming off the back of finishing 9th in Japan
Yokohama part of the City group linked to Lawwell

Aye he was always in our thinking though. Welcome to Celtic

Yeah. Imagine they appointed a youth coach with a 50% win rate.

    Laughable :fear:

Yep. What makes it even better for them is we have the resources to prevent us from hiring a guy like this.

Ange is symptomatic of that though.

It's a panic appointment after we idiotically held off for Howe for 3 months without assurances he'd take over.

It's clear they've went to Harkin and asked him to propose names, which is further confirmation our system isn't fit for purpose.

Maybe there is an element of arrogance and sneering at his record but it definitely doesn't stick out to me as a guy I'd be trusting with arguably our most important rebuild ever. The outcome of next season's League will likely define the following 3 or 4, by virtue of the financial swing. I don't think it's being dramatic to say that.

Ange might turn out to be the managerial equivalent of Van Dijk were only those who had seen him up close really knew of his potential and the rest doubted due to the level he achieved it at.

I really hope that does turn out to be the case but I'd say it's more likely not to happen than happen, given he will have no honeymoon period and a budget Howe didn't think was sufficient to rebuild with.
