He's not but there's very few (if any) fans advocating for those.

People are simply saying for a club of our size, with such an important appointment to make, it is an absolute traversty and failure of leadership that the choice is between Ange, Lambert, Keane, Ross or Lampard.

That's my point. There's nobody advocating for anybody.. just a load of complaining about Ange.

I was referring to the post in which he asked if I was taking the * that I'd rather Ange over the aforementioned.

You can argue that it's a travesty all you like. I won't argue against that. But it's reality. It's one of those or something similar or a left field appointment. I'm yet to hear a viable suggestion who's a better option, in my eyes, than Ange. Oscar Garcia and Diego Martinez are the only two alternative suggestions Ive heard that are realistic and I would have neither over Ange.

The "but who would you rather?" question is such a weak counter-argument.

Some fans don't have an encyclopaedic knowledge of Global/European Football; they're not paid to, like our custodians are. It's literally their job to find the best candidates available, within budget, for all roles and if the list they've come up with is the 1 above then it's confirmation - along with a litany of prior horrendous appointments - that those custodians are unfit for purpose

If a fan only watched Celtic and could see that Griffiths had let us down once again and wanted him to leave this summer but couldn't come up with alternative striker to sign, would that be grounds to keep Griffiths on? Of course not.

In fairness I don't think any of them should be in contention for the job either. I don't know Ange Postecoglou but I fear he's Ronny Deila part 2. I liked Ronny but our board treated him like * because he wanted the job so much he got all his backroom thrust on him and probably half his signings.

We need someone who has control over the team and major input on signings. His own team and a proven track record.

Tbf, if harkin is coming in as dof then no manager is likely to have full control.

They should have control over first team matters and a major input in signings. The dof doesn't take away from that.

My point is I don't think there is anybody better that we could realistically get. Most people's idea of what we can attract is * ridiculous. Favre? Sarri? No wonder people are disgusted with Ange.

Ive had a wee shifty. The amount of people who would be happy with the likes of Clarke, Maresca etc yet cannot put forward a coherent argument why this guy would not be a disaster is telling.

I hope I’ve proved I’m playing devils advocate slightly but I still can’t get a straight answer as to why this is the case.

It’s probably obvious to be honest.

I actually feel sorry for this guy, I doubt he knows fully the absolute shitestorm he's about to walk into..

Next seasons league Championship prize money is worth roughly £50 million quid with CL qualification.. in terms of importantance last season is insignificant compared to this..

Because of the fan unrest this fella will get absolutely zero wriggle room in terms of results. I'd imagine Celtic Park could even be hostile from day one..

Big Ange will never have experienced pressure like this in anything he's ever done. He will not get time and every move he makes will be scrutinised especially from the already disgruntled Celtic supporters..

I wish him all the best but cant help but feel the board are already setting him up as the fall guy for their utter incompetence..

He's not a worse choice than Keane, Lambert or Lampard. Ross has done well at Hibs but it's also far too soon for him. There are more managers out there than them and Ange, however.

The point I was making about Favre and Sarri was that now that it is 95 days since Lennon was sacked and our clear first choice has knocked us back only a big name will be accepted by the majority of the support but no 3 months later we're back with Lawwells mates the board think we button up the back

Harkin is currently the DoF as much as Howe was the manager

True, there are, and nobody can come up with a single one who would be a better option.

To be fair, most people will have seen the Howe news, coupled with some unknown Aussie * as the back up plan and that was it. Open and shut case. This guy is a * joke and shouldn't be anywhere near our club.

If everyone just let the red mist alleviate slightly you would see that this guy appears to have a bit about him and isn't all that bad a choice. The best we could possibly get? Probably not. Better than 90% of the likely alternatives? Without a * doubt imo.

Lampard or Keane would have warranted this uproar. Not Ange.

After reading a of your posts almost all are anti your board
The board have appointed Ange and cannot afford to have him fail.so does this mean they have to back him no matter what?

You can’t get a straight answer as its not the answer you want to hear.

You have to question why this fella is at best, our 3rd choice.

It remains to be seen mate. In fairness Lennon was backed by the board but unfortunately they backed the wrong horse..

Yeah, I'm just saying it's a dumb argument.

People are paid handsomely at our football club to profile candidates available for each role. I don't watch anywhere near as much football outwith Celtic than what I used to. As such my knowledge on managers and their availability is pretty limited. Once a name is in the public domain it's possible to appraise a manager's CV, playing style, honours etc. and come to a conclusion on if you think he fits the bill of being a Celtic manager. It's unrealistic to expect every fan to have a vast knowledge of every manager,.their wage, availability, budget demands, success etc.

What I will say though, is if you paid me a full-time wage with the task of profiling potential candidates over a 7 month period then I could certainly come up with a more imaginative target list than Howe, Keane, Lambert, Ross and Ange.....and I'm an absolute dafty.

We are being failed by our leaders and rather than accepting their latest uninspiring appointment, I'll call it what it is.

Buying into this now tbh. Granted he’s not the big name with the glamour of say Howe or Marsch but he’s spoken very highly of in Asia and by the players who’ve played under him and putting him down because of where he’s managed or just his nationality full stop is narrow minded and unbecoming of our fan base. Australia and Japan are two footballing nations Scotland would’ve given their right arm to switch places with over the last 20 years such has been their performance at international tournaments.

Every great coach needs a break, a pedestal to really show their quality. We can be that for Ange and equally he can be the unassuming hero to really set standards at our club again and take us back where we belong.

Yes. He will be a victim of circumstance and seen as a a cheap yes man. He will also not be afforded the time that Howe would have by the support and I include myself in that.
