I wasn't one of those people and I would definitely not want Clarke over the big Ozzie. If you would prefer Clarke, that's fair enough. You get to be mad.

Eddie Howe was obviously realistic or we wouldn't have apparently been in negotiations for 7 weeks. Honestly over this guy I would probably take someone like a Lampard. I also wanted Marsch and it's rumoured there has been contact with Favre. There is some good managers out of work at the moment Rafa/Sarri/Valverde we could at least ask the question. If we're * bent on a left field appointment I'd be after Diego Martinez

    Sunderland were very close apparently.

They went for Chris Coleman :giggle1:

I was one of the guys who was happy enough with the Maresca setup, I think part of what made it exciting was it looked like we were trying to imitate the setup Salzburg have, which is excellent.

I honestly think Howe would have been great for us, so the fact he turned us down makes this sort of appointment hurt a lot more. If I wake up tomorrow, he's appointed and Kennedy/Strachan are leaving I think I'd overall be happy, but if he's appointed and those clowns stay I think we're in trouble.

At the very least, demote Kennedy if he has to stay (he doesn't, but it's our board) as he's done nothing to warrant the assistant's job.

So it would be mad to want someone proven in Scotland, has got the National team to a major finals for the first time in over 20 years over a guy who is a complete mystery. At a time when we need a massive rebuild, Clarke would be a much safer option. He still isn’t someone I want though.

Recent Clarke sides play negative football, including Scotland, and he got us to the Euros through the back door and 2 penalty shootouts. I'm not interested in seeing that style of play at Celtic.

Even without knowing much about Postecoglou I'd still take him over Clarke based on his philosophy alone.

You could say the same about Marco Rose and Jesse Marsch before they went to Salzburg, both of whom our fans would have gladly taken as manager in the last 2 or 3 years.

Everyone starts somewhere. I'm not thrilled about the Howe fiasco, but I'm not willing to write a guy off based on his nationality.

Just having a look on wiki. There has been 3 Australian managers in charge of the national team in it's history Ange being one of them. So do the Australians also not rate themselves as they come from Australia or was it maybe they weren't the best option at the time ?

Me personally i prefer i idea of Maresca as he’s been exposed to European football his entire career and at a very high level, having a good playing career is not essential but i think it certainly can have benefits with giving the potential manager an in-sight of how these clubs operate. Without this i think a manager would have to tag along at training and try learning that way. Also a 2x UEFA cup winner.

His management career he has been assistant at both West Ham and Sevilla

I also think he would of learnt allot whilst manager of Man city’s EDS.

He is also allot younger and has the UEFA pro license

Maresca also would have been a punt into the unknown, not something I think Celtic have the time for.
