Potential Manager Suggestions?

I can’t see an announcement until early next week. Even if this backroom staff story has any truth to it, there will probably be some loose ends to tie up. The rags are just guessing here, they know as much as everyone else. Which is the square root of * all!

When I read both posts I instantly sang the song

I can get on board with hope. Its when these rumours and hearsay are being stated as a matter of fact that doesn't sit easy with me. It could set us up for a massive disappointment, it's like buying a bottle of champagne before a cup final.

I find it a bit off that there is this belief that there is supposedly some cast iron contract that would be breached by declaring his intention to take up employment when it's finished but yet he would be willing jeopardise this by actually working, be it in the background or not. And that this belief is based on speculation from the Scottish sporting press, who have never let the truth get in the way of a good story

 

I just can't believe we've been sitting here for 3 months without a manager.

They're out of excuses now. It has to be this week.

The club have had experience in misleading the media, and delivering totally unexpected transfers. Also, certain political events make me think Desmond has lost any interest in the club, and will not financially back a big name manager.

 

Aye, I get what you are saying mate, and if he has agreed to take the job, then I have no doubt whatsoever that he will have been doing work in the background. The problem is, nobody really knows if he has agreed to take the job, well apart from himself and the Celtic board, who won't interact with fans unless it is to stick the boot into us, or try and get our money.

The risk with this protracted open secret about Howe joining is that it won't now have the same impact/hype they were looking for when it is finally announced. In terms of season ticket sales etc.

There's a case for saying that unless they tie it to some other big news (DOF or signing players) OR do it in such away that gets people really excited then the fans might just be totally underwhelmed by it after all this time.

A big part of the motivation for waiting on Howe must have been the 'box office' aspect of it. I e going and taking one of the most highly rated young managers from down south. I think they might find they have lost a lot of that impact when it's finally unveiled.

 

Zero excuse for it not to be announced this week. Shambolic if it were to go longer. Other clubs well down the road in terms of preparation for next season. We've not started. Get it sorted Celtic.

 

I could easily see them doing a huge announcement with a DOF, Manager, coaches and chief scout. Obviously that's not me thinking that's a definite but it would be a good way of doing it.

 

If that is the case and I think it might be then I wouldn't necessarily expect an announcement this week. Could be some more waiting to be done.

 

DOF is close according to the Daily Record article today. Stephen McGowan mentioned Richard Hughes in his article

You'd hope then, the club, the new CEO, DD major stakeholders etc... Will try and polish this up as much as they can.

They could of half arsed it after winning the 10 and fans would have creamed themselves seeing Howe come in after Lennon to carry on title winning ways, but now, to get that same reaction, that same outlay of cash be it on ticket renewals, merch, anything.... They've got to push it out hard now..

That's going to mean a massive announcement with Howe, DoF, whole new backroom staff, maybe, just maybe a signing (one of Howe's old reliable for defence).

Do all that and you might get fans parting cash. Dont do that, then fans will still struggle to get excited and will likely come back in drips and drabs depending on how seadon pans out.
