Yes he's not going as far as to say its a dead cert that Howe will be Celtic manager but he clearly believes it will happen. I get the impression something will have to go badly wrong now not for him to be announced as Celtic manager.

Isn't that interesting, a Celtic man as Chief Scout, will help us weed out the dross? Congerton and Hammond weren't Celtic men after all!

Based on Mark Birchill's playing career, Celtic could sign a lot of British based players from the top half and lower leagues of England? How does one become a chief scout?

I thought Celtic wanted to go down a director of football route with someone from a Manchester City, or Juventus heading a director of Football/recruitment identity.

To be honest with you. Mark Birchill and Eddie Howe sound a bit small time in comparison to a super club scouting network.

I suppose I'll answer my own question on here and make the point! Eddie Howe could be the man, Brendan Rodgers started off at Watford and Reading. Small time clubs, but a good manager, starting off.

Take Eddie Howe. Thommo says he's like Rodgers. We need a top class manager like Rodgers. Is Eddie Howe, a small time Brendan Rodgers starting out looking for the big smoke?

Is there anyone left at Celtic involved day to day that would have been involved with Burchill in his time here? Can’t imagine him having many friends within Parkhead, he predates big Pete. Might golf with Desmond or that.
