What I mean is in the eyes of the board, maybe wanting to get this out of the way as not to tarnish the announcement.

I have no qualms about Eddie Howe bringing in his own backroom team as we all know that our present backroom and sports science department etc. has completely fecked up this season. There were countless games were our players were blowing out their arses after about an hour. This is particularly strange as I remember going to the Celtic Festival at the SECC which included the Celtic Sport Science Team giving presentations. They informed everyone that all the games were filmed and the players fitness levels monitored so that the manager and the team can look at things like tactics and set plays (I know) as well as monitoring individuals fitness levels so, obviously, they didn't do their job very well.

Yes, because the chances are when Eddie leaves everyone he brings in goes with him, leaving us in the same position we are now. We need a DoF that is here for the long haul for stability and continuity between managers.

Why not? From interviews he's done in the past at Bournemouth, that's exactly the sort of guy he is.

Not a lot of folk will actively do * all on their off time, and considering the unique nature of football, if he is 90% sure he's taking the Celtic job, I would expect Howe to already be fully aware who he wants to bring in and who he expects to leave (contractually be it end of deal or one year to go).

Unfortunately, for the last 18 years at least, we have constantly been let down by the hope of a "big" announcement, and that we are actively and quietly doing our business behind the scenes.

Turns out, every single season, we drop the ball on something and are a a shambles.
Rodgers aside (Desmond ego got that one), what have we actually announced in the last 18 years that's truly taking us by surprise and been a major signal of intent in any shape?

Really don't get this * about "tarnishing" a new manager. Hyper bowl pish, maybe?

What players do you think he's coming in to at the start of pre season, if not the group that finishes the season? So the very same group of players that would tarnish him if he had come in weeks ago are now, suddenly going to be made ready for the European qualifiers over the course of 3 or 4 weeks.

The rebuild the new manager faces is massive. Those "5 games" would have given the new man a 6 week headstart in terms of competitive football and training plus full 3 months in total in the job before the qualifiers come around. Those margins could absolutely be the difference between failure and success.

The earlier you start a job the earlier you reap the rewards, its not rocket surgery.

I've been all for Howe becoming manager as I thought he was the best of the realistic options mentioned from the start and was genuinely gutted when things stalled and appeared to have been just speculation or that he'd gotten cold feet, so to speak.

If we eventually get him in, I'll be absolutely delighted. The upgrade from where we are now and the decline we've been on will be massive. If things have been agreed last month and he's been quietly going about his business and getting plans in place, happy days. The general consensus is that he is very detailed in his planning and, considering the lack of forward thinking, coaching etc we feel we have had to endure, things should really head in the right direction.

Yes that could all be pishe too, but I remain optimistic :84::84:
