Potential Manager Suggestions?

Meh, seen and heard it all before. Won’t believe * all until he’s announced by the club officially. Still can’t trust those useless * not to screw it up last minute either.

Wouldnt be surprised if howe hasnt already spoken to cook and smith (cb and rb) whos contracts are up end a the season and two positions we need

 

Seasons done. I'd much rather we took our time and got it right than try to appease the anxious panicking lot here who have zero patience. Some times we need to act fast and we never. I'm glad we're not making the opposite mistake and going too fast. You would see the same ones here moaning we rushed it... disgrace etc etc if its wrong.

I get what you mean mate, but personally I try to avoid giving them * any clicks. I'll wait for confirmation of any appointments on my what's app groups and then I'll come on here and see the reaction.

 

I've went from calm to a bit needy to calm again..

The needy part was when his representative started talking * in the media..

I'm fairly relaxed about it being Howe though. For a while I thought Maresca and Harkin was a formality until Howe came to the forefront in the media and it ramped up..

We've had so many knocks this season that we want to hear some positivity and I totally get that but, if the report's are true and he's been effectively getting the backroom staff sorted and has watched us from behind the scene's, doing his due diligence for month's before that....it is only gonna be beneficial to us in the long run..

It would clearly indicate how much homework he's done/doing for the job at hand and how serious he's taking it..

I know we can't always believe the media but I do think everything point's towards it being Howe. Quite refreshing to read this when you consider the ineptitude of our current manager and his boss that has no long gone..

 

I was sold on Eddie Howe 1000%.

But given how long this has dragged out, ot concerns me. Optimist in me hopes this means Eddie dragged ot out to ensure there is sufficient spend on recruitment to tweak this squad.

Pessimist in me thinks we've been bending knee to him and allowing him full control to hire whoever he wants, including a DoF

 

Our season isn't "over" until after the hun game. I am hoping we have been quietly working in the background, and on Monday or Tuesday next week, there will be wide sweeping announcements made.

 

Whoever it is needs to get rid of John Kennedy right away.

The rebuild can't begin until the old bhoys club is completely cleared out.

 

Is that such a bad thing?

If the stalling is over him building the right team to come in and make a real impact then u can’t fault the guy for that, the last thing I’d want as a manager is to have someone else’s minions forced upon me, Brendan had Davies all the time and would always want him because he’s a fantastic coach and I’m sure Howe will be similar in terms of wanting the best coaches available he can work with

 

Get rid of all the ex players in coaching roles.

All of them. The whole thing needs an overhaul.

 

If the "hold up" has been his backroom staff, which he wants a say in, then that fits still with the sensible head some of us have tried to keep (not always possible I admit). Where big rumours and talk happened just before Easter, then suddenly it all went quiet, Howe's side came out with "nothing till summer" and rumours on the Thur/Fri of Easter McKay was packing in the rugby to join up "early". Tuesday after Easter we get the official word he joins in 2 weeks time, which he did.
In that time we have heard zero word from the Howe camp and very little, to nothing "leaking" out about it.

Safe to say, Mckay WAS brought in early because finer details needed done on the Howe deal that would impact the wider restructure (we still hope is happening), be that Hughes > Harkin, or simply Howe requesting some of his own staff in the coach/scouting department.

Absolutely nothing wrong with Howe wanting that (DoF aside), and it SHOULD be McKay who takes the lead here.
I just hope for our own sake, we are NOT bowing down to Howe every wish and the entire setup is all Howe, because eventually he WILL leave and likely take his own team with him - ala Rodgers.

But even if he is "demanding" 3 coaches, 2 scouts, Hughes to be in a position of authority/right hand (DoF, Sporting Director, Head of Recruitment whatever), then the restructure and setup still, regardless, needs to be much much much bigger than that anyway.

I have NO issue with a Head Coach/Manager coming in and asking to bring 3-5 of his own staff across the spectrum of staff we need, because we should have about 4 times that many at the club anyway and when the head coach comes in, they do need some sort of familiarity to their ways and some key staff that help get across his ideas.
We just need to make sure they compliment what should be a wealth of staff we already have here.

 

The cynic in me thinks these rumours starting up again are to coincide with renewals coming out

 

There's taking your time then there's just dawdling. We have done the latter giving us precious little time to prepare for next season. Whoever gets the job is now looking at another season of failure thanks to the * about we have done which will prompt moaning along the lines of, "we took too long... disgrace".

 

Absolutely,he’ll have been working away in background with transfers over the last few weeks and watching our games and probably reruns of games over the season.He’s got a bit of work to do.

 

Again you think because a new manager doesn't play the last what, 5 or 5 games then next years done already? Thats the exact hyperbowl pish I'm on about. I'd rather a fresh start than tarnish a new manager with this * show bunch of players.

 

It's been over a long time. Get over it.

 

I never quite get this ‘working away in the background’ bit...

He might be negotiating staff and terms if he is still a live option... but would he or any manager be that busy immersing themselves in the details of players ins/outs and past performances etc when they are not yet on the payroll and anything could happen to spanner up the move.

Football is a unique environment but would anybody devote hours/days of their time to something that (as yet) has zero guarantees.

 

I'll be buzzing if/when we get Howe in. Some actual management and coaching will do us wonders.

The board will no doubt want it done ASAP now that season ticket renewals are imminent.

Only way is up.

 

Our season has been over since the 2nd of January, probably before then.
