    That you just noticed?

I have to call into question your dedication to listening to all the songs.

Cena would donate his left nut to get 20 seconds inside the pants of a Japanese wrestler.

    Round 3 Results

Well folks the group stage is complete. All votes have been counted and verified and I can now reveal those final group standings.

    GROUP A

    Screenshot_20210420_224046.jpg

At one stage Queen had 7 number 1 votes out of 7, more than secured their qualifying spot alongside the front runners throughout, Tears for Fears.

So, it's commiserations and thanks for taking part to
    Simple Minds - @Marie
    INXS - @Garrymac1888 (I loved them)

    GROUP B

    Screenshot_20210420_224102.jpg

What a performance from The Cure, dominating their group from start to finish. And how about irony that The Smiths song "Panic" was the tune that caused the least anxiety with their lowest score in Round 2.

Unlucky, and better luck next time to
    Metallica - @Albian Ajeti
Cold Chisel - @Taz (cheers for introducing these belters)

    GROUP C

    Screenshot_20210420_224120.jpg

This group wasn't quite as clear cut as it may seem, with each artist in isolation in with a chance. The mega low scored of 13 and 14 meant the qualifying spots were secured for New Order and Michael Jackson.

Thanks for coming and hard lines to (but stick around as part of the jury ongoing!) to
    The Human League - @bagforlife
Makin Time - @Drakhan (another new artist for most, thanks)

    GROUP D

    Screenshot_20210420_224139.jpg

And so to our closest battle for a qualifying spot, and taking it was Talking Heads, along with group winners Big Country. And who would have guessed that Tina got her best score with The Best?!

    Unlucky and well played to
Whitney Houston - @V For Vendetta (I'm astonished Round 3 wasn't in the bag for you)
Tina Turner - well, who the * else was it gonna be, but @Padmill

    :57::57::57:

    Congratulations to our quarter finalists!!

    :57::57::57:

I can't be arsed thinking of a theme. So, just fire me any song you like from the 80s by your artist. As long as it hasn't been used already, we are good. Just one song for this round, please and it will be a straight knockout. Draw will be posted soon.

    Thanks all :50:

Shocked that INXS and Simple Minds dropped out. Group A was solid. Those 2 in any other group would have went through easily.

Aye it was a tough Group A, felt that Simple Minds needed to go bigger early to have a chance tho.

Yeah some huge songs left on the shelf for Simple Minds. Don’t you Forget About Me, Alive and Kicking to name two would have seen them through

Cheeky edit there. Glittering Prize was the round 1 song. Point stands though.

I spoke to Marty about that, was between a rock and a hard place, didn't want to leave myself spent with bigger songs in case I managed to qualify for the next round.

I love all the bands in Group A and thought I'd struggle to go further when I saw the group I was in.

    Quarter Finals

The draw has been made. Here are your quarter finals... (it's freaking me out how much they look like each other)

    QF 1
    PicsArt_04-20-11.30.02.jpg
    Big Country v The Smiths

    QF 2
    PicsArt_04-20-11.30.49.jpg
    The Cure v Queen

    QF 3
    PicsArt_04-20-11.31.29.jpg
Michael Jackson v Tears for Fears

    QF 4
    PicsArt_04-20-11.32.26.jpg
    New Order v Talking Heads

For those involved, it's a one song, one off knockout to see if you can reach the semi finals.

Semi final will require 2 songs.

    Final will require 3 songs.

PM your choice whenever you are ready :50:

Good luck to those still in the running here. :50:

So bittersweet listening to Michael Hutchence (INXS) & Whitney Houston and the absolute talent they each had and what would happen to them. Very different but no less tragic and appreciate the repping, @Garrymac1888 & @V For Vendetta :50:

Knew INXS where in trouble when I seen the group, but they are the only group from the 80s I know and totally love "in excess" 9 of their songs from one decade.

Not angry about the voting, just disappointed in you all.

The quality, even now of what they did in the eighties, amazed me in the scores they got tbh...

    Quarter Finals

Songs are live and ready for your audio and visual (where applicable) pleasure.

    https://www.talkceltic.net/forums/threads/botb-back-to-the-80s-song-thread.153268/

Usual format for knockout stages, you, The Jury, have 5 points to distribute in each tie, do so as you see fit

    3-2 (oooooh)
    4-1 (OK then)
    5-0 (Oooooft)

For those still in the competition, can I ask you also vote on the ties you aren't involved in, with integrity and in the true spirit of the game, thanks.

    Voting Deadline

    Monday 26 April
    Midday

    Enjoy!!
