The main difference with American sports being a closed shop and this, is that this won't have the draft system that makes the competition a more fair sport. Makes a massive massive difference in my opinion.

I cannot stress how bad I think this is.

This would kill Celtic. It’s an attempt to kill off every club not in this tournament or the big 5 leagues.

They’re fed up having to give European money to the likes of us so they’re making their own Europe and keeping the money for themselves.

Not only that, it’s a Europe they control. Imagine playing against a team where they are the ones that made the tournament and it’s worth hundreds of millions for them to win. Why does anyone think that’s a good idea?

It will only affect the Premier League if they chose to side with UEFA and kick the 6 out (which looks less and less likely). Otherwise this is zero threat to the Premier League’s money. It replaces the Champions League, not the big domestic leagues.

I think it starts off as a mid week league and but this is just while it has a few teams but I can easily see it being the main staple of football. That's why the leagues are worried not just UEFA.
Yeah it could hurt Celtic as a champions league replacement, that I have no doubt. However I think in the long term it probably would even a lot out within football (outside of the super league).

this is just a push for the big clubs to get a bigger slice of the pie,
a bargaining chip to get more money
they bring out the same pish every couple of years.

They also have no intention of ever dividing the money equally, which is done to some extend in the American franchises. Once they kill off UEFA they will invite more clubs in, but offer them far less money and will need to play by their rules.

I can’t understand how people don’t see this.

Also, the NFL deliberately has very few teams so many cities and regions have no team at all. My question to every supporter on here is are you picking Liverpool, Man Utd. or Man City once Celtic die?

Ach well, maybe we’ll get invited in one day and 5% of everyone’s cash so we can be perpetual whipping boys.

Why would anyone want Liverpool FC to be running football instead of a union of clubs? UEFA is bad, but only because these * have an iron grip on it. This is going ahead because UEFA isn’t corrupt enough for them.

I don’t think this would hurt Celtic tbh it will hurt any team that outbids us for players because of their huge tv deals which were attainable because the big sides that are in their league
If you look at Forbes our team and the huns are in top ten every year for match day income if tv deals fall because of this it evens out for us sure we won’t compete with the super league teams but as it stands we don’t anyway

It’s a disgrace but not shocked. They’ve been pushing for it for years now. No surprise that money dictates all the decisions in football. It’s an armchair fans sport now.

With the way things are going, there will be way more money to be made from fans watching in their own homes than there will be from fans attending the game. These clubs know this and are pivoting accordingly.

I remember back in the 90s and early 2000s when the glamorous Champions League ties really felt special. Real Madrid v Man United twice a year for eternity makes it lose it's sparkle somewhat.

If the results of the current premier League teams are voided, West Ham are top of the league. What odds on that a week ago...

Apart from us I stopped watching football a while ago, the sport is *. Only seen Bayern v PSG this season and that was by accident.

I have zero interest in this or football in general, greed and money destroyed it a long time ago.

Can't see sky paying out the millions when the biggest clubs maybe banned from their domestic league and if they do that leaves six places to fill hmmm surely not we would be asked to join .

    How will Celtic die ffs?

I'm not interested in it, either as a participant for Celtic or not.

I'd be fine to stick with what we have and UEFA will just have to operate as is with whatever finances.

If it's a diluted CL with the big teams out, who gives a *.

Could well be a try at making the CL exclusive to these teams with the odd entry of a few teams outwith who can qualify via some super hard way.

the super league has started legal action to stop any legal action against them.
UEFA and FIFA need to grow a pair and just throw them out of all competitions now.
