He will be gone then. I thought he had a year left.

Honestly I think the club is mental if they extend his contract. Get in 2 new strikers during the summer, possibly a loan to buy like Eddy being one of them.
I'll remember the goals he scored but now is time for him to leave. Probably best for him too (not monetary wise) but if he went to Aberdeen and they played to his strengths he will score double figures easy.

I would normally completely agree but we have ourselves in such a shambolic situation it might be more than two strikers that we need to bring in.

    Of the current crop
    -Eddy will go to part fund the rebuild;
    - Klimala rumoured he could be away and from what I have seen of him he is miles of the required quality
    - Ajeti hasn’t got going at all and is still not getting game time despite being an expensive signing for us.
    - Griffiths miles of his best and doesn’t seem to have the attitude to be a pro footballer at the moment.
    - Bayo got option to buy for Toulouse.
    - Afolabi not getting a game for Championship Dundee.

If Griffiths is released we will only have one senior striker, who doesn’t look like wanting to be here. Howe used to play 2 up if he is the new manager so you will likely need 3.

Ideally a talent with the capability of being a talisman, possibly a more experienced option to help bring on the others whilst bringing a decent goal return and a young prospect that is capable of contributing against lesser opponents and staking a claim to be getting game time.

That’s all saying Ajeti at least becomes half decent.

JOHN KENNEDY expects Leigh Griffiths to give everything to earn a new Celtic contract — but can’t promise he’ll get one.

As SunSport exclusively revealed yesterday, the striker could be freed at the end of the season.

Griffiths needs Celts to trigger the 12-month option on his deal or he’ll be shown the door.

It makes the final league and Scottish Cup games of the season vital for the 30-year-old.

But stand-in Celts boss Kennedy insists he can’t guarantee he’ll be able to give Griffiths the game time he needs to shine.

Kennedy said: “It’s very short term for me, and that means it’s all about the next game against Livingston.

“I can’t be overly-sentimental either because I need to make the right decisions for the team.

“If we’re going to win at Ibrox next week and have a Scottish Cup run then it’s about the rhythm and consistency of the team.

So I never make any promises to individual players, not even Scott Brown or Callum McGregor.

“All we’ll do is be fair in terms of how they perform at training and in matches.

“If there’s an opportunity for Leigh Griffiths along the way then perfect.

“He always gets himself into goalscoring positions, which has been a trait of his.

“Leigh is probably a bit rusty because he has been restricted in his game time, but his attitude has been great.

“He’s been training regularly, which is good, so we have to keep working with him and see what materialises.”

Asked if he would keep Griff if the decision was down to him, Kennedy added: “It’s a hypothetical question.

“It’s difficult for me to address that at this moment because I don’t want to say something when it’s not my call

When the time comes, if I’m asked my opinion, I’ll give it.

“But for Leigh it should remain private until a decision is made.

“It depends on the timing of when the club decides to make its move. And what the manager decides to do.

“If I’m part of that decision then so be it.

“Right now it’s very short term regarding the decisions I’ll be involved in and what I need to prepare for.

“It’s purely preparing for the Livingston game then it’s on to Rangers , and we will see what happens after that.

“When the time comes to address Leigh’s situation, if I’m still in the position I am, I’ll be part of that discussion.

“But again, I don’t want to jump ahead of things and get involved in areas that might not concern me.”

Griffiths has struggled to make any real impact this season, but Kennedy insists his attitude has been good.

He said: “He’s someone who has not had a huge amount of game time.

There are several of our squad who have had difficult seasons in terms of performances. That comes with the situation we found ourselves in.

“Falling behind in the league brings a lot of pressure and scrutiny.

“What I’ve found in my time here is that it’s guys who have been around the club a long time tend to be the first targets. They are more well known, people have seen them for a long period of time and look to say they have not been good enough.

“In terms of Griffiths and how he’s been training this season, there have been no problems.

“Game time has been hard to come by for one reason or another, but all he can do is continue to work hard, and see what happens in the next six weeks.”

Aberdeen are waiting in the wings to see how things develop for the Scotland hitman.

Hibs are also certain to be keen on offering him a return to Easter Road.
It makes the closing few weeks of the campaign vital for Griffiths. Kennedy added: “It’s something the club often do with contracts.

players sign a three-year deal then a lot of the time there is an option for an extra year at the end of that.

“Griffiths is in a situation where that’s the case now. But that will be a discussion between him and the club as time develops until the end of the season.

“That has to remain private until a decision is made.

“But certainly with Leigh, he just has to keep working, keep performing and do the best he can. Then whoever it may be who makes that decision will sit with him and decide.

“He is being calm, he’s trained well and there are no issues there.

“He is focusing on his football, and will deal with the next step when the time is right.”

John Kennedy expects him to give everything he can to earn a contract.

I expected him to give everything he could to win 10 in a row, he didn't, he couldn't even stay or get fit........* aff.

Nothing wrong with using the possibility as a motivation for him to actually do something for us in the remaining games for this season.

However there's no way we should be giving Griff another deal. We need to cut all the passengers loose in our squad and Griff,.through his own lack of professionalism is one of those.

He will give everything from the bench because everyone knows eddy will play as many of those games as he can because celtic want him to shine so he can * off to his next club and we get some funds for kennedy to spend next season.:fear:

This is one of the worst things I’ve ever heard. And even more mental is the fact that he won’t be alone in thinking that.

Didn't Leigh start that season in the team, got injured, Moussa skelped the huns and then sent onto score over 30 goals?

People make * up to suit their arguments

Messi has Larsson posters in his room. Griffiths shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as him.

Messi, Larsson, Griffith, Brolin, Dahlin, Ravelli...* i mention him. Griff is our player, if any want to rise him up above so be it. The love some have on our players should be high. Right or wrong, who cares.
