Have they all released records over 4 decades?

Edit: think all have released material in 4 decades bar Coldplay? Parachutes no their debut in 2000?

Surprised by the other two, thought Blur hadn't done anything together for years..

I'm sure Marty would gave allowed Coldplay tbf.. :50:

Well, what can I say? What a phenomenal response from you BOTBers, just waiting on two sets of votes and we will have our semi finalists revealed!

Already there is one quarter final that has been decided, it was a convincing victory, but for whom?

And there is one that is very, very close!

Thanks again people, it's very exciting

    Quarter Final Results

An incredible response from the jury in BOTB - Longevity Edition, truly is fantastic that we have results confirmed within 12 hours of the songs posted, that may well be a record!

    So without further delay...

    QF 1

    REM 37 - 28 Fleetwood Mac

It's a victory for REM in what was a great tie with many voters admitting a struggle to separate the artists. At this point I must apologise for allowing Losing My Religion a second showing, as the rules only permit this in The Final. It was an oversight on my part but its all a bit of fun, so let's not make too big a deal out of it. So, I'm sorry to say its the end of the road for @packybhoy with Fleetwood Mac, great effort mate.

    QF 2

    Bruce Springsteen 34 - 31 Rod Stewart

A rematch from the group stages and a battle of two heavyweights in the competition. But its The Boss who comes out on top. This one went down to the wire, tied at 30-a-piece until the last and final vote was cast meaning Bruce Springsteen can Run to the Semi Finals. Commiserations to @Scotia at this stage who exits the competition, but with his head held high knowing he went with his heart with his song choice with nostalgia knocking

    QF 3

    Cher 21 - 44 AC/DC

As one-sided a tie as you will get. An absolute beast of an entry from one of rock's finest meant that Cher stood no chance, who's entrant I'm sure wished they could Turn Back Time and opt for a different song this round. It's probably fair anyway they are out, because Cher was myself, @Marty McFly making up the numbers and going out on a limb with Cher :56:

    QF 4

    Prince 38 - 26 U2

Another artist knocking it out of the park with a huge hit which paid off. There was still plenty of love for U2 but it fell short and means that it turns out to be more of an Overcast and Unsettled Day for the Irish rockers. So it's hard lines and well done on reaching this far in your first BOTB with a single artist, to @Marie

So we are all set, I will carry out the semi final draw tomorrow and post details for song submissions then. Thanks all again for the continued participation and keeping this running.

    The Semi Finals

The draw has been made and we have our semi final lineup

    SF 1

    PicsArt_03-29-09.10.16.jpg

    REM v Bruce Springsteen

    SF 2

    PicsArt_03-29-09.11.23.jpg

    Prince v AC/DC

The theme here is Longevity and I'm asking for two songs for the semi final. The stipulation is that the songs must have been released 4 decades apart. Not 40 years apart, but released within AT LEAST 4 decades apart, make sense? Singles, Album tracks, anything. The song CANNOT have been previously used in the competition :fear:

    Example:

    Cliff Richard -
    Song 1 - The Day I Met Marie  (1967) 60s
    Song 2 - Saviour's Day (1990) 90s

Obviously anything beyond 4 decades is also good. Any queries just ask. It's gonna be a good 'un, and I'm thoroughly looking forward to these battles.

Semi finalists, send me those tunes!!
