CELTIC star Nir Bitton won't play against Scotland on Sunday after tearing a groin muscle and being sent home from the Israel squad in his latest injury nightmare.

The Hoops ace was surprisingly called-up for Israel despite not featuring for Celtic since the end of January after suffering an ankle ligament injury, although he was an unused sub in the Old Firm draw last weekend.

And Celtic are unlikely to be amused at discovering he's suffered a new setback in training for his country and is on his way back to Glasgow.

The Israeli FA said: "Nir Bitton was injured in the concluding training session and was not included in the squad against Denmark.

"He has suffered a small tear in his groin, was released from the squad and will not play against Scotland and Moldova."

I would try to offload him in the summer, even if it is for a nominal fee.

I know the rebuild is already big but please punt him ASAP.

He’s stealing a wage here and I’d guess he’s on about £20k per week.

It just highlights how badly we have been run when we are paying over the odds for a squad player and we don’t even know his best position.

The thought of him starting at CB during the European qualifiers is the stuff of nightmares. Been there too many times.

Would keep if he can stay fit but if he's going to start picking up injuries too frequently then time to offload

I'm absolutely certain he can still do a very good job as a CDM, maybe in rotation with Soro throughout the season.

He has to go for me. He hasn’t done enough to justify keeping him.

His wages should be used to bring better players in.

He's never been given a proper opportunity in MF since the Deila days, Brendan only used him a few times in MF before shifting him to CB permanently, with Ntcham, Christie & Brown leaving, more MF places will be up for grabs, I still believe Bitton can be a good MF for us

Stole a wage for far too long, time to punt.

    Any word on him?
Is he angling to get back home?
Would punt, injury prone and just a non contributor for way too long. Comes in now and again as a stopgap, hasn't nailed down a position for years.

He's previously said he'd be here until the end of his contract, and it doesn't expire until the end of the 2023 season.

He's another player that had bags of potential and has not fulfilled it. He was a decent player as a midfielder just looks a bomb scare as a defender.

Not sure how many times we can have a manager come in and look to get the best out of Bitton. He couldn’t get near our midfield so ended up an auxiliary CB but just has that daft mistake in him that costs us a goal or gets sent off nearly every game he plays there.

For me times up for Bitton time to move on.

The mismanagement at the club again means he will play in the champions League qualifiers which is criminal by the club and how many times we go into these games unprepared .

It really is unbelievable. The last 5 or 6 qualifiers we have also had like 1 available centre half. Its beyond mis management

If this board were a company in retail or industrial they would get the sack for gross mismanagement and losing millions every year just like Celtic is at the moment .
We should be miles ahead on and off the football field but allowed the zombies to over take us on the pitch and they could be miles ahead financially as well if they get into the champions League this season and win the league also that's 70 million in their bank and unforgivable for me and everyone of them need chased out the club .
