If we are being brutally honest, it’s not even a sideways step for Marsch - it’s a backwards one.

They'd pump us on the park but they're nowhere near the size of Celtic.

Nae passion, just 8000 people sitting with those big curly bratwursts in a bagel. We were in with them at the home end and there was nothing from them. No snash, no joking, just sitting there like statues.

Take away the Red Bull moola and we're in a different League to them. They do provide a path for managers to get into the Bundesliga though which is where I suspect Marsch will want to go next.

    Decent shout Sean..

    I honestly don't know mate..

Maresca does quite excite me, although experience is a possible issue
Howe ticks the boxes but hasn't won a lot in a big pressure bubble
Clarke again would instantly set us up better and have us better run but would we be playing silky football and winning thing's? It's hard to say..

I'll be honest, I'm quietly optimistic with some of the name's being thrown about. (Kennedy staying incoming :fear:)

    Lol bagel mania

It suppose it depends how we quantify what a big job/big club is these days. That’s the age old debate though. Does fan base and size have a large weighting on that? Cause if it did then we’d likely be bigger than your Gladbach’s and Leipzig’s too who are the clubs Marsch is being touted for.

We’ve played Salzburg a good few times over the last few years and I genuinely think they are one of the best teams I’ve seen at CP. They played us off the park more than Barcelona/Bayern Munich/Man City did.

I posted about Jardim the other day. Can’t believe that he has been out of football for so long.

Seen that he turned down Flamengo in Brazil.

A manager that has a clear football philosophy, exciting to watch and the players are very well drilled.

Mental that there is quality managers like him out of work yet we still persisted with Lennon.

I been watching and listening to many sports show's and a few pundits saying it's Clarke and if it is are the board willing to wait to the end of June to get Clarke and I find that * mental .
With the size of the rebuild we can't afford to wait till then it puts us on the Backfoot and two weeks later are champions League qualifiers but nothing would surprise me from this board .

    He knocked back Flamengo? Interesting.
Again like Marsch, it is telling that clubs like Flamengo are chasing names like Jardim. No doubt Celtic are a better prospect and more realistic opttion, so if clubs like Flamengo are remotely confident enough to at least approach these guys, then likewise we really should be making similar approaches.

I just cant * accept it if we pluck for Kennedy or any of the other no mark names we all fear.
The club really need to understand the demands and requests of the fans here and deliver. Much like deals for Barkas, we can accept it if we show some ambition and push the boat out, but it doesn't quite come off. But we can't accept it if we just settle for * after * in the hope the rest of the league is more *.

Can't believe it will be Clarke, he aint walking out on the Scotland job before the Euro's are at least done. Also can't see him walking out with the WC qualifiers on the go, and the WC going down in 2022. He will be ambitious enough to want to see that out then call it quits as the guy who got us to the Euros AND a WC, or as the guy who just can't do much more for Scotland.

Madness if he walked out before that.

We’re a much, much bigger club than RB Salzburg. But it would certainly be a step down to leave them and come to us.

History doesn’t really matter in this case. They are light years ahead of us when it comes to youth development, scouting, quality on the pitch etc.

He could probably walk into a Bundesliga job if he wants it.

Like for players, some managers would be mugs to come to us considering where they are - hence we need to restructure properly.

Marsch aint leaving a CL ambitious club (to be in it and perform, not to win it obviously), who would see themselves as credible EL winners, to come to Celtic who are quite literally now the whipping boys.

Managers and players don't look at history, thats for us fans.
They look at the future and the here and now.

We are so bad in these regards.
But we could be so much better.

Why wait to take the risk

this is the ideal time to change everything about the team and management

whether we got the 10 or not next season is when we need to start a rebuild and tbh I would’ve been more than happy to give up some success on the premise that we had a long term strategy to build a young team that could remain in place for years without 5-10 million quid outlays on foreign donkeys

next season was always gonna be the time to invest in a 5-7 year strategy with a youthful team and embrace a manager who although not a household name, but is highly regarded with progressive and forward thinking techniques who is willing to sign up to a long term project

there is no way we should be looking at Clarke etc as that is not in any way a forward thinking plan but just another steadying of the ship

Brilliant thread. Really highlights how badly we have been managed up until now though... when you think how much power Lawwell has had in areas that he has no expertise (I.e. hiring managers, signing players etc.)

Really hope this restructure changes the way we act and operate as a club. If we are going to make significant changes then the time is now.
