I genuinely can't believe people are OK with appointing Keane. I am done with Celtic if they do it.

The board will appoint whoever they want to and won't be looking through fan forums to see who we want in and some of the managers we would like, Marsch etc might not want to come.

Personally i don't want keane as I don't think hes a good enough coach but if the board do appoint him they will be able to spin it and still get the season ticket sales they want.

Keane has had issues with players of all levels. He has lost the respect of a lot of players at Sunderland, Ipswich, Republic of Ireland and Aston Villa. He brought in a load of players at both Sunderland and Ipswich so your argument about having a team of his own players doesn't hold up.

In his book, he is very critical of some of the players that he bought.

When he was approached by Celtic in 2014 - he told the media all about it saying that Celtic "weren't showing me how much they wanted me". This from a manger whose last club job ended in him being sacked over 3.5 years previously with his club 19th in the English championship.

Frankly - he seems to thrive on having his players fear him.

People rightly point out that football had changed between Lennon leaving us in 2014 and coming back in 2019.

Well, Keane hasn't managed at club level for over 10 years so isn't that point more relevant?

IMO he would be a disaster and we would be all over the back pages for the wrong reasons.

It's either a "name" - Rafa, Howe, Martinez or we take a chance on someone like Maloney or Maresca.

I can't believe that, given the state we are in, people are seriously suggesting a manager who hasn't had a club job in over 10 years and has a track record of confrontation.

Footballs about opinions and I must have missed the part where we get to choose our new manager. He may not have managed for 10years but has been in the game as assistant as I said I don't personally want keane but who we want ior don't is irrelevant as the board will appoint whoever they see fit

We don't get to choose but as fans we put thousands of pounds into the club every season . You don't give them the money. Quite simple really

Please not Keane, I wouldn't be against him being involved as a coach in some way, but 100% not as a manager. If we have to go cheap and unproven, best go for Maloney but really lets get Howe in

Keane is on record as saying he has learned from his mistakes...but I think that was before the WhatsApp row with Jonny Walters came out lol, Keane accused him of faking injury. Would be funny to leave him in a room with Christie after shooting practice.
Personally, think there's little chance he would be appointed. It would be box office and I would love for it to go well but can see it ending in tears.

Its not really comparable though. Top international managers earn much less than top club managers. It’s all relative, an international job is a * of a lot less work.

I would imagine he would demand a much higher salary for a club job.

In fairness, the whole account of the “row” was second hand information from Stephen Ward, who strikes me as a bit of a thick *. He criticised Walters for never being fit or feigning injury or some such which isn’t great but he’s well within his rights to do so.

You imagine but you have no idea like me if he would or wouldn't again the only point I tried to make was that I thought he was on ridiculously high wages and wouldn't take the drop in wages to come.
I don't see him in the frame for the big jobs even after finishing 3rd at the WC. I think he would be looked at by the likes of leicester if Rodgers left or mid table epl clubs so why not celtic

I am well aware who will choose the manager - your comment about not wanting Keane came after the one I replied to.

You made a comment suggesting that Keane has mainly fallen out with senior pro's and that, if the team was made up of younger players and players that he chose - things might be different.

Fair enough - I pointed out that he has fallen out with players he has bought (Greg Halford, Kieran Richardson. Liam Miller) none of whom were either old or senior pros.

As you say, its all about opinions and I don't agree - IMO, he would be just as likely to alienate players as Lennon was.

I don't take much notice of the bookies and, while I worry about who we will appoint, I honestly don't think that it will be Keane.

Hope to * its not Roy Keane my ticket won't be renewed and had it 18 year now already cant really justify the money but would if I thought the right appointment and change was being made to take us in the right direction Keane is not the right direction gone are the days as has been said before that type of manager would succeed. Genuinely think a manager like fergie wouldn't even succeed in this day and age its moved on everything has modernised and you need a modern forward thinking manager and set up to compete now

We’ve had a ‘shouter’ as manager long enough...we don’t need another one in Keane.

The Rodgers/Howe type personality who understands the tactical side of the game and doesn’t throw players under the bus is what we need, for me.

Only way it will be Keane is if Desmond thinks it’s a good idea, let’s hope he’s moved on from when he asked him last time.

That's right. When Keane was approached by Celtic in 2014 - he told the media all about it saying that Celtic "weren't showing me how much they wanted me".

Celtic stated that Keane was never formally offered the job.

Keane then told the media that Desmond had told him that "the job was his if he wanted it"

I don't really care what's true or not - I just hope that this has shown Desmond what type of character Keane is and/or his ego was sufficiently annoyed that he wouldn't consider Keane again.
