His pictures just about jump right off the page

 

It's been really wild here of late. Huge waves on the water tonight as well. Hoping to get out with my camera next week when it settles down.

 

I tripped and hurt my wrist on Sunday Jeannie I've to get another x-ray in two weeks cause it was so swollen they couldn't see if it was broke so wearing a support it's not as sore now but can't hold the camera never thought I'd miss it so much, it's like an extension to my life cause I took it everywhere with me even to work incase I seen anything interesting on my breaks, looking forward to your and everyone else's pictures cause I'm having withdrawel symptoms not having the camera

 

awwe I hope it get's better soon This weather makes it treacherous out. We're not so bad as we rarely get snow. I can imagine you would be finding it hard not being able to get out and about with the camera but you will more than make up for it once you get going again. Tell you what my new camera would cause me an injury It's so heavy you wouldn't believe!

Dad's camera has a lens which has a lot of zoom but it's heavy would be more suited on a tripod than carrying around

 

I've got a tripod too but I don't fancy carrying all that paraphenalia about in the 40 mph winds

After the odd drink last night I am listening to birds outside my open bedroom window. 8 Oystercatchers flew right past calling. A Robin is singing as is a Wren. I can hear Herring Gulls and the local Rookery and a contact calling Blackbird. And some Goldfinches.And I can hear House Sparrows chatting.

 

That would cure any hangover I had good friend. You can't beat nature as a pick-me-up.

 

18 years ago today I was on one of my cool visits to the Cairngorm National Park based in Aviemore that time.
So on this day in 2003 my partner at the time was overjoyed to see a pair of Ptarmigan in full White winter plumage. She was overjoyed and it was a cool reward after a long slog to the Top. We also saw a Snow Bunting and a Male Red Grouse.
Then later from her car I spotted a Superb Great Grey Shrike near the roadside on the edge of Insh Marshes opposite the Highland Wildlife Park We got great views,still the only time I have seen this excellent species in Scotland!!

Also this cool day at Loch Insh 32 Whooper Swans,2 Pochard,some Coots and various Gulls were noted.

Great memories

 

Watched that programme , Chris Packham's Animal Einstein's BBC2 . Fascinating seeing the birds solving 7 problems to get the treat and others making hooked tools to get the hidden grubs . Best though was seeing that bees count landmarks in the wild to guide them back to the hive , and playing football , scoring a goal to get a sugary treat .
Worth a look if yous'e didn't see it .
