A few from the weekend, i went out for a walk early on Saturday morning, i took a bag of bird seed and left a few wee piles along the pathway, i went back an hour later and there were birds in abundance, i got a bit snap happy but i wanted to take a few pics before the snow disappeared.

I watched two wee Robins having a go at one and other, the head straight up and tail straight out seems to be some kind of threat before they have a fight.

Anyone seen the parakeets that have been going around Glasgow? I know they've been spotted around different areas. I've had a walk through Dawsholm Park a few times and definitely heard them, but never saw them. I assumed they'd have * off before winter but my pal sent me a vid of them at Maryhill Park yesterday lol

21 years ago today i found my first ever Great Grey Shrike in a large delightful Forest in North Wales.I got 3 buses to get there and from a fine village i walked a fair distance to get to a small hill with Ariel Mast on the top with scattered bushes and trees. It was my first visit to this small hill and i knew it was just ideal for wintering Shrike.I searched and searched but to no avail but something told me there was one around.I did get a great close up a cool Willow *,always superb birds to see.
So after searching the small hill top to bottom i came back down and decided to go further into the Forest. After walking a quarter or mile or so something told me to look back and there i could see a cool bird perched on a small tree then it undulated to a bush.My binoculars transfixed with my mind,it was my first Great Grey Shrike so went back to the top of the small hill and got fantastic close birds of this sensational hunting bird.I watched it for half an hour hunting and circling me.One of my Great Wildlife memories, logged heavily in my note books.
Later on as i walked back to the bus stop i also came across a fine flock of 10 Yellowhammers to round off a Great Day.

That is an amazing day good friend. I've only seen a Great Grey Shrike once, in Muirshell Country Park. We were actually looking for a
Hen Harrier. But in our search , we saw this wonderful bird. We also saw the Hen Harrier getting mobbed by a couple of Ravens. It was a great day. like your day Cider. Those are the days that more than make up for the bad days, and I've had more than my fair share of them.
