Lennon is one who picks the team and tactics. He has tinkered with the team all season and still doesn't know his best starting X1. You won't get consistency by chopping and changing every week. We haven't even got a settled goalkeeper for * sake. We have looked lost on the park, no ideas going forward and utterly clueless on how to defend. That's down to Lennon. You are right about one thing though, of the standards dropped that much in any other job and you would be sacked, that should be aimed more at Lennon than the players though.

 

Actually the path is quite easy.

We avoid playing teams like Ajax and other quality European sides because of the Champions path in which we are seeded.

We play teams like Malmo, Rosenborg, Astana, Cluije, Ben Sheva, Ferencvaros, Maribor, Warsaw, Karagandy.

Ffs it doesn't get any more straightforward.

We've been disastrously unprepared for years. Even the two seasons Rodgers qualified we had to do so with guys like Eoghan O'Connell and Saidy Janko at the back in 2016/2017 and then Bitton at the back in 2017/2018, while having to play Forrest up front against Rosenborg because we didn't have a fit striker. Rodgers worked miracles to get us back to back qualification. But he shouldn't have had to. In his 3rd season the luck ran out, and even then it was a marginal aggregate defeat.

Lawwell's pet replacement has * us over spectacularly in his last two attempts.

Agreed- I believe the club released some staff last summer? Perhaps those were vital to the footballing system staying somewhat functional? That's Lawwell's doing.

 

I think Duff has been a big loss as well

 

The criticism is valid, in lots of ways..

But, to belittle his success belittles an unbelievable period of success for us.

His legacy is a mixed bag no doubt but ultimately a successful one.

Don’t think there’s much chance of making a balanced assessment of his time here when emotions are so raw.

I’m not sure he’ll ever be welcomed back by the fans due to how things ended, and some horrendous decision making this year. Had we won the 10 however, he would no doubt be a bit of a legendary figure. It’s a fine line.

Irrespective of the outcome this season though, it was clearly time for change. There was a stagnation of ideas and overall lack of progression within the club.

Tremendous news. Vital that we look to restructure now and get a talented DoF in the door to shape the club.
