Best time to do it. Allows the new guy to come in with less pressure and have plenty of time to decide what or who he needs for next season.

Which is why Lawwell going is arguably even more important then a new manager.

Completely agree. Not just Lawwell, when he goes he’ll be replaced by the same. The whole lot needs to go including Desmond.

A realistic candidate and a good one as well. Think most would be happy with that. Certainly be a massive improvement in coaching game preparation

Kinda hoping Chelsea pull the plug on lampard already talks of it which is horrendous when you consider it’s only half way point and he’s 7 points off the top spot and each team from 1st to 12 is up and down so far this season ... anyway point being we should look to capitalise on that and take him

Lampard....why?? What's he ever achieved as a manager?
    Would much prefer Steve Clarke

I'd be quite happy to see Lennon sacked and have Lecter as an interim manager until the end of the season, couldn't do any worse surely.

Dont really want a stopgap till end of season.
New guy needs time working with the squad, just to figure out who to punt.
I was surprised Clarke was not in the running before Lenny got it.
Is it possible for him to come in and still do the Scotland gig?
Not as if they got a game every week.

    Clarke is a non-starter.

He has stated publicly, an in no uncertain terms, that he has no interest in managing either Glasgow club because of the baggage that accompanies them.

He is a national hero at the moment. Why would he throw that away?

Had no idea Partick Thistle had so much baggage.

Clarke is a Celtic fan and a lot of that was said after suffering bigoted abuse from huns at a Killie game, I believe there is still a high chance he would take the Celtic job if he was offered it. He would still get to manage Scotland in the Euro's then be in place as Celtic manager for the start of next season. Im not saying this will happen but its not impossible.

Clarks football philosophy is not the Celtic way , which means * all really but would be rounded on if things didn't go well , I tend to believe he would do really well if backed and allowed to set up and play in his own style .

Yep. His record in England is poor.
Relegated Hull, and sacked at both Watford and Everton when they were in relegation zone.

Please refrain from even posting the name of an archaic ex Ireland manager (and former Celtic player) who got sacked earlier. Thank you and hail hail

I really wouldn't look at anything managers do in England, specially when they come from better stock outwith that league.

Unless they are managing the team that wins the league, they are all deemed failures. And unless they are managing a team in the top 6, then every team is a potential relegation side and generally not expecting much, the pressure is unreal and the expectations stupidly high for what is considered a split league in terms of the top end to the bottom end.

Much like a player can look horse * in a mid table-relegation table, yet go elsewhere and actually look good.

I'll take his record at Olympiacos and Sporting as a much better indication of what sort of manager he is and his ability to do good here.
He won the league in Greece, a comparable if not better league than ours and a comparable sized team - if not worse.
He also came 3rd with 9points, joint to second place Arsenal and the group also had Munich and Zagreb - so he held his own in that group for sure.

Sporting he won the cup, the first piece of silverware for them in 6 seasons, he came third in a league which most would consider a very competitive league for the top 3 or four. Coming third to Porto and Benfica is not exactly a disaster.

His first gig was at Estroli, where he got them promoted after taking over, then got them to 5th and 4th place in the Portuguese league, no bad considering.

Again, I would not for one minute look at his record in England when we know how fickle and demanding and unrealistic that league setup is.
I'll take comfort in his other 3 jobs where he had actual success, two of which at clubs that we should be better than and shows he can manage our level of player and do well in Europe.
He also comes with a modern mentality to the game and looks to play younger players and tends to be keen to trim the squad.
Think he would work well within our budgets.

If anything, his time in England should be used as a positive in his name being well known and could draw the attention of some players - something we most certainly will need to do more of with Brexit rules.
