To be honest I never thought it was a show which I would have described as 'fast paced'. Thought that was one of the shows strong points. The politics within the police department often frustrating the * out of Mcnulty and co. Also the 2nd season, which seems to be widely regarded as the weakest, was possibly my favourite.

    Going to start this tomorrow.

Started it last year and like a few have said, found it very slow, but will stick with it this time.

Have had folk getting on at me to watch this for years, giving it as high regard as The Sopranos, my favourite show.

I'm enjoying it so far, it is very good. However this character Ziggy is doing my nut in, he's just annoying.

Plenty of characters in Sopranos you're meant to dislike I'm sure, like Ritchie, Ralphie, Janice etc, but you dislike them because of how well they're played. Their dialogue is entertaining.

This guy is just a pain in the *, actually off putting.

I'm almost finished the 2nd season. It's been good, but going to have to do a lot better to get to the heights of the Sopranos. I'm just mentioning that because that's what I judge everything against and nothing has come close yet; some pals that like the same stuff as me have said it's between this and Sopranos for best show made.

I felt the same way at first, S2 is a bit jarring after getting to know all the street dealers in S1, it's a big shift to the blue collar dock workers taking focus. Ziggy is annoying as *, one of the finest written bellends ever, and nick and frank are great characters.

Rewatching it over the years season 2 has easily become my favourite.

Finished rewatching this. It’s just incredible

Think I’d rank it above The Sopranos and Breaking Bad.

The Wire is as close to 10/10 as is possible for TV. Only show that comes close to The Wire for top acting and realism is Gomorra. Wire defo has the best script and writing in media history, nothing is cringey or forced it's just like a Baltimore documentary.

People should watch The Corner, essentially the prequel to this although some actors play different roles etc. Insanely underrated and unknown.

I was amazed after watching that probably the 2 main characters were English, brilliant accents. The Irish guy who plays the mayor is fantastic too.

The scene where Frank is walking down the pier towards the Greek after the phone call is * amazing, just the way it's all set up.I didn't appreciate that series as much as I should have first time round.

Finished 3rd series, think it's got a bit better. Juggling a number of series the now but have rattled through this fairly quickly for me.

Finished this recently. Really enjoyed it. Final series a little weaker than preceding ones but was still very good.

Read that Michael K Williams aka Omar died today, shame man, he was my favourite character; was a really good actor. Great in Boardwalk Empire as well.
