I always thought his signings were *...

How many were his and how many were Sir Peter's ?

I recall talk that he was given a list of targets and told to pick what he wanted, though he definitely signed Hendry. :giggle1:

Soro and Turnbull are a must going forward. Would hope to see Calmac flourish, knowing he doesn't have to cover Brooney for 90mins 3 times a week. 2 up top as well. 1 of which is Ajeti or Griff. Need a potent goal threat up top wi Klimala buzzing about them. Eddy needs a rocket up his * and can sit for a few games.

The thought of Brown and Oli together, wi Christie going for Hollywood any time he's 35 yards out, is nauseating and infuriating in equal measures.

Also, personally, think Ajer is a far better baller than we use him for. Get him away from CB.

He rid of a perfectly good scouting system and head scout to bring in that useless * with all his ‘contacts’.

Musonda, Hendry, Mulumbu, Burke, De Vries, Compper, Tojlan were all his signings, plenty more that I can’t remember. He did have good signings but the majority were pish.

Being a good player with a lot of experience doesn't mean you are going to be a good coach/manager. Giving someone a coaching or managerial role due to their achievements as a player is incredibly risky.

I was meaning experience as a coach rather than going away getting some badges and then getting thrown into a big job

You can try. It doesn’t mean anyone is going to believe your pish. The price you pay however is your credibility and reputation which once lost cannot be restored.

Had a discussion with another few Celtic die hards last night and we were were surprisingly split on this. Majority of us want change but due to finances we may not get in a Rodgers calibre manager who would want to bring in his own players
The question was, if we should go on to win the league and 10 iar would you be happy enough for Lennon to stay but get rid of Lawell and allow Lennon to bring his own backroom staff in. Thoughts ? And not just because you have developed a dislike of Lennon.

Whether we win the league or not, this has to be Lennon's last season here.

He’s simply not good enough. We’ve suffered too many humiliations in the cup and in Europe under him in his two spells.

Nah, I'd rather Lennon moved on even if we win the league. I'd like a fresh approach and a manager who's more of a coach in terms of developing players.

Lenny has to go,for me its getting to the stage where even if we were to somehow get the ten it wold be somewhat tinged with annoyance that lenny has done his best to * things up.

I think we've had tunnel vision on the push for 10 for so long, to the detriment of other things and when it's concluded - won or lost - we need to start to have a revamp right across the club.

We need boardroom change and an appetite to embrace Modern football including:

    • a total revamp of our academy providing more paths to the first-team for those who merit it
    • Appointments made on merit rather than previous links to the club
    • Expansions of the analysis and scouting parts of our club that are thread-bare in comparison to European counter-parts
    • Managers and Coaching Team appointments made to those who buy into all of the above and have a strong record of embracing it
The club as we see it now is as a result of our leadership. The fact that it's a possibility of us ceding our domestic dominance to a Hun team that started 8 years and spent half of that time in the lower leagues, is testament to how poor that leadership has been.

We should be streets ahead both and off the park but the sad reality is we are neither and there needs to be some accountability for that.

No single individual is responsible for where we are, which is why the sole removal of Lawwell or Lennon won't completely fix our issues. We need root and branch reform.

For me this whole “finances” thing irks me, we have one of the best run football clubs in the world in terms of money, Every year we hit profit. Spending money on a world class manager pays itself back sevenfold, if they come in develop the squad youth etc, winning trophies and qualifying for the group stages of the ECL. We * 2-3 million on transfer fees alone for players that are terrible, yet won’t pay a decent wage for a manager that could potentially bring 30 million in ECL money every season would pay itself.

A good manager can make a poor team work, a poor manager just keeps the rot going. Pay and think small you’ll end up with a below par product, spend money to make money.

Wouldn’t be tinged in any way for me, nobody I would rather see lift it more tbh. I just don’t think he will.

Would like to see him move on regardless tbh. This whole episode has definitely shone a light on how tenuous the ‘club legend’ tag can be, and how * it can be when it goes wrong.

A new ‘board of directors’ should it happen... would offload him anyway...

If we somehow win the league this season it would be the perfect ‘out’ for him. I’d rather he were gone now though.

Bottom line - he’s just not good enough.

Why would you change everything else but hold on to a clueless manager ? :43:
