Celtic board give Neil Lennon fresh assurances his job is SAFE for now

NEIL LENNON has begged for more time to save Celtic's season and his job.

The Hoops boss is under huge pressure after the 1-1 draw with St Johnstone left his side 13 POINTS behind Rangers.

But S*nSport understands he was last night given boardroom assurances he is safe for now.

Celts needed a late equaliser from Mohamed Elyounoussi to avoid yet another loss.

Angry fans are demanding change after just two wins in 12 matches.

But Lennon insists he's still the man to turn things around. He said: "I understand their frustrations when we are not playing well and not getting results.

It's understood the club's board held further talks last night with Lennon preparing to continue.

But with just two wins from their last 12 games, and on their worst run of home form since the late 1950s, the Hoops board are coming under increasing pressure to act.

I know this doesn't present the full picture of their tenures, a lot went on previous, but here are the last 12 games prior to previous sackings...purely for info

    And Lennon's as it stands...

Picking up last minute points seems to keep Lennon in a job

I refuse to watch another Celtic match with him in the dugout. I’m done.

Aye, can't see me subjecting myself to any more of this eye-bleeding football if it continues.

What's the point of getting angry at it any more?

They're literally going to give him the cup final, a game in which we arent guaranteed to win.

The board are done, they know this.

It's the only thing that can explain why they don't give a * this season, they know they've already past they point of no return, whether they pulled out a miracle sacked Lennon and still delivered the league their position is now untenable for allowing it to get this far.

Gerrard has more points at Parkhead than Lennon has in the last 3 months.

Mate, not a criticism, just a genuine request: can you do that for Lenny's last 12 domestic games? All of Barnes' and Mowbrays are domestic, so it's hard to compare these tables.

Edit: one of Barnes' was against Lyon.

They do, but it means nothing if they do. Either it's the Sun talking pish or it's the board testing the water with plausible deniability via a tabloid. Either way, it's not a statement to be taken seriously.

As bad as it sounds its time to hit the club where it hurts most...the pocket.

Supporters work hard for ST's and merch yet the board do nothing but penny pinch and downsize. Well im sorry but im not spending another penny until Lawwell is gone aswell as Lennon.

Depends: who is the source and are there any quotes?
