If it was simply about the health of players surely all football should be stopped then? Domestic and European as well as internationals.

They are young, fit athletes. The risk for them isn't zero, because literally nothing in the world is zero risk; but it only makes sense to say they are risking their lives if you also say they are risking their lives every time they get behind the wheel or cross the road on the way to training.

domestic is helped by being in bubbles, international football * that massively, as evident.

As younger men, sure it isn't as high risk...but it's a much much much bigger risk than normal days.

I don't say it lightly, but seriously these guys are risking life here.

As I said, they are only risking their lives in the sense that they risk their lives every time they get in a car. It's not actually a much bigger risk than normal days. Not at all.

It's a massive risk to the likes of Danny McGrain and John Clark if they come back with it, but hopefully the testing deals with that.

And clubs all over Europe with their own bubbles have had outbreaks.

Kilmarnock are 5 minute down the road and had one.

Even aside from clubs not being immune from outbreaks, players would tell clubs to get to * if they tried to stop them playing in a playoff final, and rightly so.

Not sure how it is hard to comprehend that international games are a massive risk here, as proven by the obvious outbreak across nations here.

as you say @Random Review the players are not as high risk as older folk in society, but the risk to bring it back is also high, the bubbles theyve been in for months is out the window when this * goes on and we start from scratch again.

European club competition can be dealt with easier than internationals as the bubbles dont change, just the location, but even at that, honestly, I would accept no European football at present as well.

I know some of us may seem to over estimate the risk of this virus, but some (not you guys here) are downplaying it too much as well. Bottom line is, this is a pandemic that is high risk compared to any other viral and disease out there. We should not be risking this at all for international football.

That's true, but bringing that many bubbles together increases the possibilities of transmission geometrically rather than arithmetically. It's the same kind of logic as the rule of 6. It's definitely much riskier than European club games.

The chances of catching it are clearly multiplied many times when playing International Football.

If safety measures are brought upon wider society when chances of transmissions are higher eg. Lockdowns or restrictions when the R rate rises - then why would sport be any different?

It isn’t just risk to life. Covid can lead to long term health conditions even in the young.

Been a disaster for us. Potentially being without Edouard, Christie and Bitton is a massive loss, no doubt about it.

The players can’t play either way but the club is punished further.

Dude, I totally agree with you about the mathematics of bringing multiple bubbles together and about the very real risk of bringing it back to older people working at the same club; but let's stop all this nonsense about them "risking their lives".
At the end of this year, if you count the number of young men below 35 who have died of Covid in the UK and compare it to the average number of men of the same age who die in traffic accidents in the UK most years, I promise you the latter number will be much higher (sadly).

Are we going to start saying they are risking their lives every time they drive to training? Technically they are, but I don't see anyone making that into a big deal.

    Never said it wasn’t.

But if you think international football is risking a players life then why should we be playing any football considering we’ve had outbreaks at club level?

    Again, nobody said it wasn’t.

Elite Sport is treated different because they’re operating in bubbles.

    Clubs are.

    Training - Home - Game - Home - Training

International Teams can't possibly due to the nature of travel, meeting up from other places etc.

It’s not me that makes the rules mate :giggle1:

Kilmarnock, Liverpool etc. Have shown that clubs bubbles aren’t bulletproof either.

I think playing any football just now is ridiculous for what it’s worth. I just don’t get the argument that it’s worth risking their life for club football but not internationals.
