Hip injury they said as well. Was it not the hip giving him jip that was the long-term worry when he was here as well?

Aye, most players are usually out with ankle, calf, thigh and groin problems - Tierney is usually out with hip and shoulder injuries which is quite weird and uncommon.

The Scottish FA have today announced that Southampton player Stuart Armstrong has returned a positive test for COVID-19 while on international duty with the Scotland men's national team.

Within the announcement, the SFA confirmed that all other members of the squad have returned negative results.

However, the Lothian Health Protection Team in Scotland have identified two players and two members of the backroom staff as 'close contacts'. As a consequence, our defender Kieran Tierney and Celtic player Ryan Christie - along with one physiotherapist and one masseur - have been advised they will require to self-isolate for 14 days as of yesterday (Tuesday, October 8).

Our medical team have confirmed that Kieran was socially distant at all times from the player who tested positive and has broken no rules regarding COVID-19 protocols. We are currently seeking further advice and clarification of the details.

Kieran has also been in touch and has said: "I'm so disappointed and frustrated to be in this situation. I have adhered to all regulations and made sure I was socially distancing from my team mates in the hotel. I've also tested negative. I know Arsenal and the SFA are now in discussions with the Scottish authorities to gain a further understanding."

    Here we go....

The madness of international squads meeting up and travelling...

It’s going to be all over the leagues.

Expecting players to remain socially distant when they share changing rooms anyway is daft as * imo.

P.S I absolutely detest the term 'social distance'.

Do we know this for sure that players in the Scotland squad were sharing rooms? If that is true it is insane. * hour on steroids in the midst of a pandemic.

KIERAN TIERNEY came through a Covid-19 scare two months ago after a positive test.

The £25 million star was asymptomatic and came through the required 10-day self isolation period without further issues to start the new season.

Now the ex- Celtic hero’s at the heart of a determined fight by Arsenal to be available for their Premier League game against Man City at the Etihad on October 17.

Gunners boss Mikael Arteta - who himself tested positive last March - was left furious after Wednesday’s shock SFA announcement Tierney was having to isolate for 14-days due to him and Celtic’s Ryan Christie being regarded as ‘close contacts’ of Stuart Armstrong who tested positive while all three were together at the Scotland camp in Edinburgh.

That left the defender facing up to missing the City match plus almost certainly the opening Europa League group tie against Rapid Vienna in Austria on the 22nd.

Yet, Tierney had produced THREE negative tests in the week leading up to the stunning news all three players were out of the crunch euro play-off against Israel.

The Gunners are now determinedly lobbying both the Scottish and UK governments to get the 23-year-old’s isolation period lifted, believing he has also developed the necessary antibodies.
