Brighton are refusing to budge on their demands for a loan fee of between £2m and £3m for the 28-year-old and are also looking for Duffy’s wages to be paid in full.

But Celtic are reluctant to fork out those kind of sums for a player only to see him return to the south coast after a season long loan.

bit steep that for just a loan , if a deal can be done to buy fine , otherwise move on .

2-3mil for a loan plus pay all his wages is a abit ridiculous. Couldn’t see us ever going for that unless there was an added option to buy next year for a lower fee to compensate maybe 5mil.
We need him badly. Everytime I watch him play for Ireland it’s a 1 man team. We nearly qualified straight into the euros with a poor enough team, him carrying us every game.

If that is the case either pay the 5m to buy outright or simply move on.
Why is every single, * transfer dragged for weeks and weeks and weeks, beyond a * joke now!

    Here the whole time
Let's face It, this ain't happening.

Brighton " we want a 2m loan fee for 1 season"

Pete (fingering his collar) " hmmm":43:

Brighton "oh and you have to pay 100% of his current wage."

    Pete "cough, cough, splutter!!! Water!"

Brighton " ok well how about a 5m fee for a permanent transfer."

Pete (undoing his collar button while simultaneously fanning his by now scarlet face with other hand) " ok, that I can muster"

    Brighton "cool"

Pete "Ok shane, we've agreed a fee you can become a Celtic player and possible legend as the club stands on the cusp of making history. As a supporter how does that sound?":50:

Player "awesome!! It's been a lifelong dream to pull on the hoops and win medals":ynwacelti

Pete (uncomfortably giggling)"thing is,(clears throat) you will have to take a bit of a wage cut but as a lifelong supporter and already very wealthy man that shouldn't be a problem eh?" :78:

Player " eehhhh, wellllll I've actually always preferred a relegation battle you know, keeps me busier. I hear east London's lovely this time of year. I'm forever blowing bubbles"

No chance for the amount of money talked about, IMO.

A year long loan would end up costing us around £5m, which is insane.

That amount for 1 season is insane. I'm sure we could buy a player who would demand half what Duffy earns for £5m who would still be good

Because I think we've enquired and that's as far its went. If Brighton want his wages paid in full and a 2 million fee they can get to

For the money required to sign him, I’m sure we could find better elsewhere.

But I’d still like to get him. Albeit, if it keeps dragging on, move on to other targets. Preferably young, french and black.

I think the rumours of a £5m permanent buy are just that, rumours.

Still hoping Paul's source is on point but the media appear to think otherwise. Although wouldnt be the first time they were wrong.

"Son, do you know why I'm bidding on you for?"
'cause I'm young and I'm black and my wages are real low?
Do I look a mind reader, Peter? I don't know

Think Brighton are just wanting a permanent transfer with that demands.

I am sceptical about the £5 million fee to get him permanently but if it did take around that or a bit more to get him in we would be far better doing that and then giving him a slight wage cut rather than paying £2 million for a loan fee and then just over another £2 million over the year loan for his wages if the £40k a week is to be believed.

We’ve had a horrible habit in the past of offering known Celtic fans a pittance, trying to exploit their loyalty. Hope this isn’t the case here.
