Very nicely presented stats but they mean * all if they come to the conclusion that he'd only be a squad player for Celtic.

On a state of mind they're saying it could be a permanent move we are going for around £5m

It compares a 28-year-old centre-half (with a completely different set of attributes) playing for a club that spent most of the season hovering above the relegation zone in a much stronger league, with a 22-year-old centre-half playing for a club that is completely dominant in domestic football.

Of course, the results are going to be heavily skewed in Ajer's favour.

£2m loan or a £5m permanent deal makes more sense

I think he would toughen up Ajer and to a lesser extent Jullien as well he gives me the impression he wouldn't be shy in letting them know if they bottled a tackle

At the moment it looks like its between us and West Ham. He would rather play for Celtic but we know West Ham can offer him a far bigger wage. I guess we'll see how much he actually loves Celtic, and its not as if we are offering him pennies, far from it.

Initially West Ham wanted to loan him, but seemingly Brighton don’t want to loan him out and certainly not to a potential relegation rival. Seemingly we thought a loan was the only affordable option, but now the sticking point is the structure of a permanent deal.

Duffy wants to experience playing for Celtic and will know this is the best possible season to do it, but doing it on loan (when he’ll still receive his full Brighton salary) and taking a £15-20k weekly wage cut over the course of a four year contract are very different propositions.

The deal is done. It's all about crossing the T's and dotting the I's.

    Permanent deal.
