On re-watching back the part where he talks about the timeline of events, it doesn't make any sense.

He says he was looking at flats in Scotland the day before he moved, then Rogic asked him on the day he eventually moved if the deal was happening, to which he replied "I don't think so mate"

Then later that day he was at the Park with his mates while we played Cluj away he was phoned by his agent and told "right you can go, Celtic have got what they want for you" then that night he was on a plane down to sign, crying apparently.

So the "hardest decision of his life" either was a hypothetical one and took place prior to any acceptable bid arriving or didn't take that long to decide upon.

Was gutted when he left. Like most I felt annoyed he jumped ship but when the dust settles, the black and white of it is we as a club accepted the bid. It's not like Tierney demanded or was crying out for the transfer. Ultimately we accepted the bid because £25M is a lot of money to us. Tierney was given the opportunity to treble his wage over night and took it. We need to understand if we had the financial resources a club our size should have, the likes of Tierney wouldn't go anywhere. That's not Tierneys fault. Money does influence your happiness, I don't care who you are. I like to think if I was a Celtic player I would never leave, as would everyone on this forum but the reality is we have never been in Tierneys position, when you know the board have decided to cash in on you and you have the option of trebling your wage and that's after having the great career he would have dreamt of. Remember Tierney played a big role in the double treble, was part of a Celtic team that went unbeaten. He has played his part in our history. Love Tierney and only wish good things for him. Hopefully in a kind twist of fate we will see him back at paradise one day

Arsenal year end 2019: Revenue £385m, Profit £54m

Celtic year end 2019: Revenue £85m, Profit (before tax) £11.3m

Commercially we're operating at 1/5th of Arsenal, it's unrealistic to expect us to have comparative facilities.

In cold harsh reality arsenal are a big club aswel who've done pish for a couple years. Do fantastic there you can go to barcelona/madrid. Chance of 200k wages not just 70k come contract renewal time. Do * at arsenal and you can still pop off to villa or some other lower half team.

I was annoyed and upset because of all the interviews of 1 club man. Should have deflected with the you never know in football phrase. Aye he got caught up and excited though. I believe it was a hard decision deep down, but one everyone would make. I wish him well, he now gets to celebrate the 10 like the rest of us. In the stands.

Thanks for everything you done for Celtic. On par with Virgil and Dembele in terms of club status for me.

On a separate note, I think he loves taking centre stage tbh. Never as big a Celtic fan as he made out (had he stayed for the ten he would only of turned 24) and think he could of left the threats out, he knows what the media are like in Scotland but again he loves taking centre stage.

I do really like him like all players who gave it all in the hoops but certainly no legend.

I touched on it earlier, the whole section about the transfer he was walking on eggshells, his feet were flapping about and he was very nervy about saying the wrong thing.

    "it is what it is"

As for finding out during a phone call at the park. He contradicts that:

"everybody found out when Celtic were playing away in the Champions League, the craic was like, I found out when I was down the park with my mates, but I was like, I found out before all you's did, I found out before the Celtic game had well kicked off"

There’s a difference between having comparative facilities and being completely blown away at the difference in standard.

Their football costs (not including their actual wages) are more than our whole PLC turnover.

If that didn't lead to a noticeable difference in quality then I'm sure they'd be feeling short-changed.

He’s as big a Celtic fan as anyone on here.

He was already starting to stagnate and putting his career on the line trying to play through injury when the likes of Hayes and Rogic were telling him he was mental for doing it with how serious his injury was.

It’s weird that some people seem to have a problem with him mentioning threats, and not the fact he was getting threatened.

Again, that’s different from being completely blown away.

Scotland is a tiny place. It’s pretty easy to know where someone grew up, he didn’t say on the walls of his house, just in the area.

I mind when a footballer moved in across the road from my house when I was in primary school. Played for hearts at the time. You'll find my entire year knew where he lived because we would ask if he wanted a game down the park every night on the way down :56: :56: never did give us a game but gave us a tenner each at Halloween. Result.

At the end of the day, the guy got us £25m which should have been more than enough for his replacement and a few other additions. Just a shame we ended up with that mad *.

If somebody sat a contract in front of me for 3 or 4 times, or however much, my wage, I wouldn't be able to say no to be honest.

The chances are we spend between £5-10m per year on upkeep of facilities, coaching, analysis staff etc. Arsenal spent £86m in 2019.

I'm afraid that's always going to lead to being blown away. Until we get out of Scotland, we will always be throttled financially.
