If we got Duffy on a loan then a younger project ala Mark McKenzie or Loic Mbe Soh id be delighted.

    Would rather Soh.

I think McKenzie would take a lot longer to settle.

    Soh pls.

McKenzie sounded good but watched a couple of his games and I'm not convinced at all.

I'd probably disagree about it being unreal.

Considering if we are playing a back 3, none of those in reserve are natural centre backs. For me that's a concern.

Does anyone else get the feeling we are going in to our usual holding position in terms of transfers until our Euro picture becomes clearer and a potential sale takes place?

We seem to be making the usual hard work of getting deals over the line and stalling on deals. Which then impacts our options for important fixtures.

I don’t really know what makes you think that. We’ve spent £10m on three highly rated internationals (Barkas, Moi & Ajeti) all of whom have experience in winning domestic titles and playing in Europe. That’s a real statement considering it’s an unprecedented window (in terms of timing and difficulties in doing deals). I also expect another international signed this week in a position of real need (Duffy).

Yes, we also need a LB, a winger and arguably another CB, but it’s a very positive start to a window that’s got a long way to go.

We need a CB, LB and a winger at the very MINIMUM. I also expect either Ntcham or Rogic to leave along with Griffiths as well perhaps.

No point bringing these players further down the line as look at Ajeti and his fitness levels. These players will take a few weeks to be close to getting ready to make an impact

Granted on Ajeti but the other two were essential, with no return for FF we had one senior GK at the club that the manager replaced as no.1 last season, so needed to get someone in and on Ely, he was here last year and with Mickey injured and Hayes let go we actually had no option for the left wing when we are playing a 4-2-3-1 formation.

Even Ajeti, we were back in the situation of having one real first team ST option due to Griffiths situation, Bayo being punted and Klimala not appearing ready. Also the point about it likely being a couple of weeks before we see a fit and firing Ajeti means he will not be as useful as he could have been.

I think a fair effort has been made to move on those who do not have a future (clear deadwood) but the squad still looks threadbare at CB, LB, and the wings.

Team needs reinforcements and it will give folk incentive to go the extra yard to cement their starting place, but keeping our best talents this season is just as important as signings if we want to win 10 we cannot afford set backs we know those horrible flesh eaters across the pond will do whatever they can bankrupt themselves if they must to stop it, its upto our club to go the extra yardage to seal it.

I completely agree with you on what we need mate, but unfortunately these things don’t just happen overnight. We’re in a good position and working hard behind the scenes to progress the right deals.

We’re stronger now than we were the day the window opened and I firmly believe we’ll be stronger again once it closes. Transfer windows are frustrating at the best of times, never mind this season, but keep the faith.

Thought we would have had another signing in by now.

Next week’s CL tie is going to be a fairly big step up in quality of opposition. And then it’ll be another big step up if we manage to negotiate the tie.

We need to get players in and up to match speed ASAP if they are going to be involved in the qualification games.

My biggest fear is we pick up an injury to a Eddy or one of the CB, even Taylor with no alternative in place.

I know the window is open until October, but really wish we would speed up our efforts to get players in.

I agree with that mate. It's always a minefield though isn't it, especially with the one legged format. Even signing players doesn't guarantee qualification. I think last season we had Julien and El Hamed in place for the Cluj game if I remember correctly.
