Can I just state, I believe Edouard is a fantastic talent - destined for the very top of European club football.
That said, and as much as I dislike it, the EPL is where the money currently is.
VVD, Wanyama and Armstrong all ended up at Southampton, who incidentaly also have a 30,000 stadium on the south coast.

Don't confuse this with BHA-Saints are bigger clubs argument, but finances dictate now, and bha are now weirdly (due to being in the EPL) in the top 40 wealthiest clubs in world football.

The fact that Celtic are struggling to compete financially with other less established EPL clubs (such as WBA and West Ham) over the Duffy signing, is a further example of this.

Anyhow tell bha, they can have first dibs on Edouard when WE feel the time is right, if they help us get Duffy in hoops.

If Duffy can't come because of an offer from another team ie Brighton want to sell only. Then we move on. We should look at the Dutch market or Belgian market again

He’s a footballer with ambitions and dreams. Not an inanimate object you can ship off to Brighton. Not a chance he’s agreeing to that move.

Southampton are a much bigger club than Brighton too. They’ve got a habit of producing players for bigger teams, so at least VVD, Wanyama and Armstrong had that hope. Worked out for two of them and it’s been going good for the other.

Im not sure how much weight I would put in to Armstrong, VVD and Wanyama. The latter two were clearly going to operate at a level higher than the likes of Southampton or Brighton (no disrespect to either club).

The fact that Wanyama, Van Dijk, Dembele and Tierney have all gone, or gone on to via someone else, be successful at some very high level clubs would suggest to me that our best players probably won’t be signing for teams at the lower end of the EPL table anymore.

Edourd is arguably higher rated than any of the above were when they left. I may be proven wrong in time, but I really can’t see him ending up at the likes of Brighton.

Problem is we can’t really scout at the moment.

Heard somewhere the club is targeting players they are aware of somewhat. Ajeti has been a target before, Barkas played against us and could have been shortlisted for a while.

Lennon won’t be watching YouTube videos to determine his next signing.

Eddy is one of the best young strikers in Europe not because of what he has done with us. But because of what he has done with the French u21s that's why we can ask 40million plus

We were already thin on the ground for CB cover and knew Jozo was going to leave this summer, so there should already be targets identified. It's negligence if there isn't.

Obviously some time has passed and the structure may have changed but when Peter Houston left us as a scout he said that we had a catalogue of potential players for every position.

I'd love for us to get Duffy but we can't afford another month-long 'will he, won't he' saga. Teams in the SPFL are getting joy against Ajer and Julien, if we're going into 1-legged qualifiers against better opposition with them then we've been well-warned.

That would be a good deal IF those amounts are correct, not sure where the '6m to buy' is coming from.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has refused to discuss the potential arrival of Shane Duffy.

Record Sport understands the club has held talks with the Brighton defender, who grew up supporting the Hoops.

Duffy also has interest from West Ham, West Brom, Burnley and Leeds as he considers his next move.

And ahead of the Champions League qualifier with KR Reykjavik the Celtic manager was in no mood to discuss a potential deal.

Asked if there was any update on the defender Lennon bluntly replied: "No.

Look, guys, I keep repeating myself: I'm not going to talk about players until they're in the building.

You get a rumour here, speculation there; about players going, players coming in.

"I'm not prepared to comment on any player who is affiliated with another club until they're sat next to me."

With Lennon not willing to discuss the potential transfer, it would suggest that our move for him is a decent attempt to bring him here.

If the player wants to move here, he'll force the move. Player power is everything nowadays as we all know.

Yeah if there was nothing in it he probably would have just said “no there’s nothing in that.”
