It would be absolutely mental to drop our interest because of a couple of million, could easily negotiate that as part of the fee for getting him in permanently next season.

When you look at the millions we waste on players that aren’t proven compared to a player like Duffy that is a proven solid centre half.

Here is a list of the top of my head on players that have been * and a complete waste of money. Some just didn’t seem to get a chance for whatever reason, but majority *. I will have missed some out I’m sure but just shows how wasteful we are at times.

    Fees are approximate-

    Kouassi- £3.5 million
    Bolingoli- £3 million
    Boerrigter- £3 million
    Scepovic- £2.2 million
    Shved- £2 million
    Bayo- £2 million
    Hendry- £1.5 million
    Ciftci- £1.5 million
    Balde- £1.5 million
    Compper- £1 million
    Gamboa- £1 million
    Scott Allan- £350k
    Lewis Morgan- £300k
Musonda- loan fee rumoured to be £2 million I’m sure + big wage.

That is about £25 million spent on transfer fees before you take into account wages, completely wasted!

I understand our transfer fee is to buy players, develop them and sell them on for big fees but when a player like Duffy comes up, forgive me if the fans might be a tad * off when it falls through…

Hopefully not though and we will see him in the Hoops next week :84:

If anyone is willing to take a pay cut to come here it’s Duffy.

Not sure what Brighton are willing to pay but I would say £20k a week for a solid centre half was a steal.

As mentioned already if we have to pay £2 million for a loan fee so be it, hopefully we can use that as part of the agreement to get him permanently next season.

Edouard will hopefully stay this season and will most likely be off next season. Ajer and Ntcham will be leaving at some point so there will be money coming in, couple that hopefully with CL qualification money this year.

Yeh even for one year! It’s not like he’ll be paid minimum wage!

£10m spent this summer got £45.1m cash and all sorts of new sponsors and strips. Cash and trading consummate with 2019 don’t think a million or two will be a problem

I honestly think this could turn out to be one of the most important signings of the last few years if it goes through.

For us this is the year, the ten, and whilst it hasnt started to plan lets get these signings in over the next week or 2 and signal our intent.

Forster is class and was worth it, plus Southampton paid half his wages, I can’t see Brighton paying half his wages for a loan move up here.

I agree I’d be willing to pay that as well but I just can’t see Brighton paying half his wages. Think a permanent move would be more likely than a loan move, which would be perfect.

Until Derry has spoken, I refuse to believe the WBA rumour.

Pretty simple, Brighton are a smaller club with a much lower wage budget... I would hope they would pay half but I doubt it.

Brighton obviously acting the * over the make up of a loan, they desperately don't wanna sell him to another relegation prem team, he wants to come. 25k a week 5 year contract and 4 mill to Brighton with a 20percent sell on.

He's their player surely they are allowed to play the * haha? Also 20% sell on, he's 29 in Jan don't think he'll be moving on for much in the future.

What would it realistically pay to get him on a permanent deal..?

He's in his prime as CB, but zero sell on value, really.

Maybe we should go against our recent and successful policy of buying young and punting for a large profit.

Experienced internationalist. Played in the EPL for year's for a side pretty solid at the back. Outstanding in the air. Imposing and gives everything in the tackle/block's everything in front of him. Peak year's. Can play on the left hand side..

    Massive Tim which helps..

It's going to be a whole lot more than £4m if they want £2m.for just a loan.

Tbh I see him playing for WBA, just a hunch.
