* been locked in the house for 4 months and folk are baffled that he’s not quite ready for football. If he’s had any sort of niggle during lockdown he won’t have had the usual facilities or staff to rehab it.

If this was anyone else they’d be given the benefit of the doubt considering the situation.

But it’s not someone else, so people will speculate and ultimately talk *.

The club should be defending him rather than allowing ex players and pond scum on social media take shots at him.

 

He’s not been dropped.

Lennon said he’d team up with the squad once they are back.

He doesn’t need to travel.

 

The physio could have suggested it as a precaution ?

I used to work at a hotel that was frequently used by teams that were playing in Glasgow the following day.

John Collins was Hibs manager and Broony was still there, all teams got a similar supply of scran at set intervals: Breakfast, Snack, Lunch, Snack, Dinner, Supper..

We're setting up for Supper which was basically just fresh fruit and yoghurts and Collins' assistant Tommy Craig approaches me and says "Scott Brown will pester you to get him toast, under no circumstances is he to get any"

Fast forward to when they come in, Brown is scanning the fruit bowls and yoghurts and sure enough comes up and says "Any toast on the go big man?"

Obviously I was sticking to the party line of Naw but Broony was hitting me with patter "Mon big man, I know there's bread in here and toasters in the kitchen....have they said I've not to get any?"

Laughed away with him then disappeared to do another job behind the scenes, came back 15 mins later and he'd sweet talked one of the lassies I worked with into making him 3 slices of toast and leaving it in a different room. I've walked in this room while he's eating them (actually inhaling them) and he's shat it thinking I'm one of the coaches, looked up like a rabbit caught in the headlights.

Finished his toast, handed me back the empty plate, winked and walked back into the other room with the rest of the Hibs squad eating away at their Ski yoghurts.

 

That's just an excuse mate. He's been dropped from the 1st team squad as he's not fit enough. He doesn't get the choice to travel or not he's told what to do

He’s been told to stay back in Glasgow.

 

Physio would only do that if he had an underlying injury which there's been no mention of. We will all know in the coming weeks of what has actually been the case but IMO it's down to his inability to follow a fitness program

Ffs he dropped from the squad, left at home, whatever you want to make it because he's unfit. You can word it anyway you want but that's the nuts and bolts of it

Where's my twist on it. We have a training camp at Loughbourgh and he didn't go, as unfit. We have friendly games coming up in France, he's not going as he's unfit. I have only said exactly what has been reported he's unfit. I also said whether it weight or core fitness and not once said anything else. He's been training for 4 weeks at Lennoxtown. And all the time in lockdown was given a fitness programme to adhere to. Now it's pretty obvious he's not done that or he would be fit enough, especially after 4 weeks with the fitness team since going back. It's not hard to figure out that he must have been a good bit behind on what he should have been on the Fitness Teams stats. No whether it's weight, core fitness, Bleep test, distance running or biking isn't known but to be left behind it must be a issue for them. By the way see if the club didn't want to say anything that made people talk then they could easily have said he's hot a slight knock. But they released he's was staying at Lennoxtown to work on his fitness so very strange

 

This reminds me of debate around 7 or 8 months ago in this thread, can't quite remember the outcome though?

 

Not totally sure why any Celtic fan would want to stick the boot into our own players, but ultimately it's Griff who is the one losing out here. He already had a job of staying in the team with 3 other strikers at the club - yes it's disappointing he isn't in top condition but that's his own loss.

Tell me what's my agenda because I didn't know I had one. Leigh being left behind to work on his fitness is a worry for me as if Eddie get injured, well work it out. He knows the pressure of this season coming up and has not came back to the level expected. And if the club didn't want to say that they could easily have said he had a knock and was staying for treatment. So my opinion really is that he's came back unfit, the manager and coaches aren't happy and he's been left out, dropped, whatever you want to call it, to work on his fitness. And I think the reason the club have mentioned the fitness bit is maybe to see what reaction he gives. Does it kick his * into gear, tbh he shouldn't need it, or does he just not bother and end up away from the club.

 

It's a forum isn't that the point to have some debate !!

You seem to know everything about the situation but you don’t actually know to what extent the lack of “fitness” really includes?

But you’re willing to slate the guy and question his professionalism?
