He’s been average his full career. Made a career off a save at Sunderland.
Fraser Forster has gave him an absolute showing up in a couple of months back at the club.

 

His first season he won player of the year at the annual awards for either PFA OR FWA.

Everyone was singing his praises how well he came back from his serious injuries.

I was going to throw some quotes in, but just read back this thread.

He was also voted the writers' player of the year 2014/15.

 

He’s still *. These awards mean Fuckall really. Kent last year as an example.

I’ve never seen him as an excellent Celtic goalkeeper. Average as *, not commanding enough, comes off his line far too much, beaten at his near post constantly, cannae save a penalty but the worst thing about him is he thinks he’s spectacular. He’s no.

 

Now he is all that. Cant take away he was * fantastic in his first year. In fact he saved so many qaulity shots in the europa that year it's the main reason we got that far. When he * it in Milan was the start of his downward trend. Deniying he was qaulity for that time is utter tosh from someone who's obviously no watched his that season.

 

Wit I watched every single game that season mate as I do most seasons. Won’t change my opinion on how average a goal keeper Craig Gordon has always been throughout his career, before, during and after that season.

 

Sure thing pal. Fact is he was anything but average that season.

 

Both him and Bain are average goalkeepers that while are not exactly bad, we should aim for better

 

I always said he was average as a keeper - with some fantastic saves.

That season was the same. He was still far too weak at his near post and he absolutely * up against Inter.

 

His inter * up was horrendous. Yet he was so good prior, no one moaned. Go back in his thread to that game. That alone shows he wasnt average. After that season he was * though.

 

I can only speak for myself, I always thought he was average and a couple of amazing saves papered over a lot. Never trusted him in big games either and that Inter game cemented it for me.

He was far too weak commanding his box, far too weak at his near post to be anything more than average for me. Always compared him to Joe Hart - phenomenal highlights reel, that’s not the reality though.

People comparing him to Boruc and Forster that season I put down to wishful thinking.

 

I honestly hate him. *.

 

There is a huge difference between winning the young player of the season and the player of the season.

He's certainly not the player he was initially for us, but he's still here and he's still a Celtic player. He's no longer a first team choice and he's better than what we usually have as a reserve.

I think people are a bit harsh to be honest.

Not a big fan of him as a person. As a keeper he can be a brilliant shot stopper but the rest of his game is average/weak.

That being said, signed for free and was worth a gamble I think. He just isn't good enough to be our number 1. Really hope we keep FF, ideally until he retires too.

 

He’s never had a amazing season in his career never mind at us. The guys average and thinks he’s a superstar.
