Yeh was meaning about the 30 per cent if he goes for tierney money they would be getting just over a quarter of that fee

Well, if he goes for a Tierney type transfer we give them about £8m, but pocket about £16m. Not exactly something to cry about.

Also, if he helps keep a clean sheet or supplies a goal/assist that gets us into the CL then he repays any fee multiple times.

Only way we lose out is if he sells for sub-£1.5m, not including wages... seems unlikely

From the record interview with Manchester Evening News reporter Simon Bajowski

What type of player is he – including strengths/weaknesses?

He won't be beaten for pace by many players and that includes terrific acceleration both rushing forward to join attacks and getting back to stop them. Frimpong has the energy to maraud up and down the flank and the versatility to play on the left as well as his preferred right. It is harder to gauge his level defensively because City are so often on the front foot in position and the academy sides did have a worrying tendency last season to simply switch off at the back but Frimpong was an eye-catching player for the right reasons.

How highly regarded was he within the academy?

Very. Having been at the club since he was nine, Frimpong was on the bench for the FA Youth Cup final as early as 2017 as a 16-year-old and a key member of the team by last season, as well as impressing for the club's Under-23s side.

    Any notable achievements?

Not achievements as such but a number of moments in games last season highlighted his ability and character. Down 1-0 to Rochdale in the last-16 of the Checkatrade Trophy, his buccaneering run earned a penalty that should have seen the team back on level terms. And later that month, with the Under-18s down to ten men at Derby and looking as though they wanted to be anywhere but Pride Park in sub-zero temperatures he drove forward and finished well to turn the game on its head.

Is he likely to be first team ready? (If not, how soon?)

One of his most accomplished performances last season came in front of nearly 15,000 at the Stadium of Light for a Checkatrade Trophy quarter-final, so big occasions will not faze him. He clearly still has a long way to develop but the potential is exciting and he should only improve with game time.

Why has he been allowed to leave?

It remains incredibly hard to get a look-in at City - just ask Phil Foden - and the club's decision to hand Kyle Walker a new contract and pay £60m for Joao Cancelo suggests that will be no different at right-back. The Jadon Sancho effect has seen more youngsters leave top Premier League academies to try and break through in men's football more quickly. The move works for the player, and it could be very decent money for City if he fulfils his potential.

I don't mind the 30% sell on. It's infinitely preferable to getting him on a 2 year loan, which we would probably have to pay around the same as we have paid here anyway, then he goes back and we get nothing.

30% sell on isn't an issue. We'll just demand 30% more from any bidders
