Well that's what was feared about Lennon confirmed then. Knows he was never going to be offered a job as good as this and never will again, so won't rock the boat in any way whatsoever. That's why Lawwell was so delighted to appoint him.

We'll be trying to secure 9 and 10 on the cheapest possible terms. Disgraceful.

I wasn't in favour of Lenny getting the job in the first place and we should have got past Cluj with the squad we have, had it been used properly, so that is definitely Lenny's doing. Having said that some of the * getting posted now about Lenny being nothing more than a yes man and like some kind of puppet that the board simply controls is shocking, * coming away with that want to go and take a * to themselves.

To be fair he done it a lot in his first spell. Took plenty of digs at the GB and the fans in general.

He should keep his mouth shut. We are entitled to be raging at this *.

He really needs to go. The entire boardroom needs a shake up. We should have been progressing in all areas as a club the last few seasons but we have completely stagnated and in some areas regressed. For a CEO that falls squarely on your head for responsibility. He’s anything but a dynamic, forward thinking and innovative character. He’s happy collecting his massively over inflated wage and trickling along without introducing any modern strategy into a 21st century market. It shows and it shows badly at times.

Your time is up Peter. Do yourself the respectful thing and appoint a fresh, enthusiastic team to give the fans a well needed boost for the next decade.

Sorry, how does this prove that Lawwell hasn’t overseen a complete mismanagement of transfer policy for the last number of years?

If anything, the fact he’s been appointed to a review committee of a competition that we can’t even qualify for on regular basis, whilst coming up against the likes of Cluj, AEK Athens, Malmo, Legia Warsaw, Maribor etc should have us scrutinising how he’s performing in the day job even more than we are.

The fact we’ve won 9 trophies in a row probably shows that he hasn’t ‘completely mismanaged’

As much issues as I have with him, that’s just hyperbole.

Well, when faced with accusations of hyperbole, let’s try and add a bit of context. Celtic’s only viable domestic competitor for the last 30-odd years were financially crippled before going out of business. Peter Lawwell has since been paid an EPL-level remuneration to oversee the club staying a length ahead of the likes of Aberdeen, Hearts and Kilmarnock. During that time he’s cut corners, downsized, appointed a cheap skate manager, had to cover empty seats with banners and seen some of our most embarrassing humblings in Europe. By all accounts it had to take our absentee majority shareholder to be personally ridiculed at Hampden, against a newly-formed championship hun team, before positive action was actually taken.

We shouldn’t be measuring Celtic’s success in what is effectively a footballing backwater- Celtic should be blowing every other team playing in Scotland out of the water. The yardstick for a club like Celtic is Europe. And unfortunately we stood still or went backwards in recent years.

I'll look forward to the day we move on from lawell. Every time we rise to position to kick on it feels he just hits the reset button and we start the cycle all over again. Being beating against Cluj is the first sign we have tightened the budget too much and I hope it's the last.

I think if lawell was more transparent as to why we are not making certain moves he would get less criticism. A good casing point is the lb position. If we are genuinely after Melling or Taylor then get it done. We banked £25M outright for Tierney, we will have more than enough to meet the asking price for either. By all means try to get the best possible deal but for me getting the best possible deal means getting them in for the games we need them, like CL qualifiers, or playing the Huns or EL group stages. If we go two seasons without replace Tierney without something half decent then it is not the best possible deal. Bolingoli looks to be very slowly getting better but am still far from convinced.

As for Lennon defending lawell, it annoys me too but reality is that is Lennon's boss. Like anyone that's employed you cannot start going for the neck of your boss. Lennon would be sacked in no time and lawell would continue his ways with the next manager. Just like he did with the rat. We don't know what conversations go on behind the scenes. We know Lennon is far from a quiet man and I have little doubt Lennon will be on lawells case for the targets he wants in. Ultimately though, lawell signs it off. All Lennon can do is push for his targets without * off the very man that can sign the deal off

Reasonably balanced post but I disagree with your final point about Lennon defending Lawwell.

While he's hardly going to go into a media conference holding a pitchfork shouting about how Lawwell is a scab that needs removed, he should be acutely aware that if he fails to deliver then it is his neck on the line and that his future employment prospects will be severely impacted if he bombs this season.

He is on record about the players he wants, the amount he wants and there have been several informal deadlines missed. It's something we've seen one too many times before. It's Lawwell's job to get those deals done ASAP to give us the best chance of success on the park. Lennon doesn't have to defend his continuous failure to do so, that was his choice.

He could have quite easily said 'I have done my part and notified the board of the player(s) I want, it's now in their hands'.

Lawell's employment is entirely different from being a fan. His job is to oversee the smooth running of the business and be answerable to the board and shareholders. We have won every domestic trophy contested for 3 years and the finances are sound. In business terms he is very successful, we the fans obviously want more, but PL Is actually doing his job. The only way he comes under pressure is if DD and other board/shareholders become dissatisfied with his performance as CEO.

It has been an unbelievable achievement to win 9 trophies out of 9. The unbeaten run we went on under Rodgers was also incredible and something we will never see again. Going into all the games in question we were also strong favourites.

It took the fans to leave in their droves and a humiliating defeat at the hands of that mob to finally make this board wake up though. It was because of us regressing and Lawwell appointing the cheap option in Deila that landed us in that situation. I never give Deila too hard a time as he was also working with one arm tied behind his back. The board shafted him as well. He was never given a fair crack of the whip. Loan deal after loan deal was all he had to work with. People were actually trying to convince themselves that it was a good way to do things as it let us see if the player could cut it or not.

Deila was also only appointed after the same Peter Lawwell basically forced Lennon out the door. He had done a fantastic job to get us our identity back again after yet another disaster appointment in Mowbray. Lennon got us put back on the European map, making us a pretty penny in the process no doubt. He was rewarded by losing the core of the squad and not getting sufficient funds to try and replace them.

This Celtic board have cost us an absolute fortune in Champions League money by not property equipping our managers to get us in the group stages. We are then forced to sell our best player to make up for the shortfall. That way of working is a complete and utter farce. It's been great dominating domestically, that all come about after Desmond appointed a manager fitting for a club our size after the board had made a mess of things prior to that.

Lawwell is elected to his position by the shareholders.

He has one job: to run the club in a manner which increases the share price in a sustainable way.

The share price has increased from 80p to 162p in the last four years.

He's going nowhere and nothing will change until that share price falls.

Don’t disagree at all with both posts. I just don’t think it has been ‘complete mismanagement’ that’s lead us to a Treble of Trebles.

Ronny Deila, who agreed to be Assistant Manager, was named Manager on the 6th of June 2014.

The transfer window opened 8th June.

July 28th we sold Tony Watt for £1.25million.

August 8th we sold Fraser Forster for £10million.

We didn't spend a single penny until 1st September.

We added a loan signing too late even be eligible for our Europa League squad, and left another signing sitting in the car park to end up telling him the deal was off.

    :56::56:

How ludicrous is that when you spell it out. That's disgraceful.
