Celtic have launched their attempt to sign Kilmarnock star Greg Taylor.

It’s understood the eight in a row winners got in touch with the Rugby Park club on Thursday to ask how much they wanted for their left-back.

And it’s believed Celtic were told £3million.

The Hoops are still interested in the Scotland cap but do not want to go as high as the figure quoted.

Celtic have not tabled a bid but there is expected to be an offer made over the next 48 hours.

Killie chairman Billy Bowie is aware Taylor is keen on the move.

Talks between the clubs and the player’s representatives are due to continue to see if an agreement can be thrashed out.

Celtic are likely to go to around £1million as well as including the offer of players on loan.

Kilmarnock are keen on Jack Hendry and he could be included to try to smooth over any deal.

Celtic are looking to get the transfer sealed so Taylor is for next week’s derby with Rangers.

I don't see us spending 3 million on him, but it's late in the window and the only other option is Meling, and there's the possibility Rosenborg won't sell him this late on.

Thinking about ir, well done Kilmarnock demanding that fee, but it’s not worth it for us I think.

Generic comment of I can remember everycunt saying £3m would be far too much for Andy Robertson and would be better spent on GMS :fear:

Never worth that to us mate, at all, but £3m for him in this market is a fair value and if Killie stick to that and actually manage to get that off of somebody fair * play.

More Scottish clubs needs to do that, it’s why I applaud Aberdeen talking £7m for McKenna. For us? That’s * ridiculous, for selling to English clubs it’s more than fair.

He's never worth that. We get £25M for Kieran Tierney and we're looking at the cheap option to replace. There's a surprise. Guessing he was the contingency plan then

We'd get him for half the fee quoted. He wants to come here, going by reports. The reports saying we'll go as high as £1m is so us.
