Boli Bolingoli-Mbombo

Please don't compare Boli with Nadir Ciftci. Boli has a long long way to go before he deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as the Turkish Tim.

 

Up until last night he’s looked no bad, I’d even say he’s look fairly decent. Last night was just a horror show start to finish.

Could be that he’s been found wanting against better opposition than what he’s faced before, or could just be a one off * show. Either way far too early to get on his back, give the man a chance.

 

HATEM Elhamed has backed his fellow full-back Boli Bolingoli to come good at Celtic and urged Parkhead supporters to be patient with the left back in the wake of his error-strewn display against CFR Cluj.

Bolingoli, a £3.5 million signing from Rapid Vienna last month, has been brought to Glasgow to take over from Kieran Tierney, who completed his £25 million move to Arsenal yesterday just before the Premier League transfer window closed.

However, the Belgian has failed to impress greatly since arriving in Scotland and was poor in the Champions League third round qualifier in Romania on Wednesday when he gifted Dan Petrescu’s side the opening goal.


His Israeli team mate Elhamed – who has, in stark contrast, shone in his first two outings for the Scottish champions – is confident he can establish himself in Neil Lennon's side following the departure of Tierney. “Boli is a good guy and a good player,” he said. “He is also a new player. I think give him time and he will do well.”

 

This guy is what i call a ‘sniffer’. He can sense danger and react inappropriately.

 

He keeps playing like that and we will all be * sniffers.

 

Patience for kid.

2 ways of looking at it....

1: he's a standard spl'er who'll get exposed against bigger teams.

Or

2: he a new signing, desperate to make an impression and it affecting his game.

Technically he doesnt look too bad imo. On Wednesday he looked like a man unable to read the game or his teammates movement.

Hopefully this is just an adjustment issue and after a few months he'll be settled and playing well.

Until then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

 

Yeah give him a chance as when we signed big Sutton I said why are we signing that donkey as he has only scored one goal for Chelsea and the rest is history and was proved wrong .

 

This is the most bizarre comparison I think I’ve seen.

 

Nah. He’s going to be as good as Sutton, Larsson, Hartson and Petrov from what I read.
This Larsson stuff really is bullshit, he was fantastic in his first season here. He played one bad pass in his first game ffs

 

What I'm meaning is don't judge a player either before he plays his first game or his fourth game some players need a bit of time .

 

Sutton had won a league title with Blackburn though and had a great record at Norwich also, my point is the comparison is bizarre. I’m not writing Bolingoli off at all but his poor start and Sutton not doing well at Chelsea is totally different situations.

 

I dont think anyone is directly comparing him to Larsson, including myself when i said it in jest earlier. I think its more a rallying call to lets get behind our players and give them a chance

 

Some of his performance was honking watched the replay of the goal and Morgan dives in 1st then Forrest isn’t tracking the runner. Doesn’t tell Boli he’s on his inside shoulder his position for a LB wasn’t too bad cleared one off the line also made a vital clearance 1st half

 

He's played 6 games now.

Gone off injured in two of them.

Was at fault for the Sarajevo goal at parkhead.

Then the nightmare at Cluj.

The only two games he was grand in where the 7-0 game against St J and then the 2-0 game v Nomme (which was the 2nd leg while we were 5-0 up in 1st leg).

 

Far too early to write him off but I have serious concerns. Even the games where people have been raving about him on here I didn't understand. He has yet to give us an outstanding performance. The best we have seen so far is steady at best.

I hope it is settling in thing. He might be just a bit eager to impress right now. One brilliant game could settle him down. Time will tell
