It’s a matter of Arsenal stumping up the money. They’ve started selling players to finance the move.

Disappointed overall but hopefully this will kick us into action and a chunk of the money will be reinvested

The more I think about it the more the whole thing annoys me. I mean, I do get the motivation behind leaving and playing at a higher level. It is a short career. I just don't like the idea of a Celtic fan leaving when the 10 is so close. Legendary status.

It probably says more about modern football than Tierney specifically, but annoying nonetheless.

Can't get my head round this. 2 more seasons = 10iar legend then leave the club at 24. I know money talks but he has a once in a lifetime opportunity to become a legend at his boyhood club THEN leave to make his millions.

 

It doesn’t matter that there’s only one club chasing him.. unless you’re desperate to sell. But there are still 2 clubs involved and if the one who ‘has’ him isn’t desperate to sell then the price is the price !

I completely understand why someone would want to eventually leave Celtic due to the money and the chance to play in a better league. But I dont understand how Tierney could act all mr.celtic then jump away right before we win 10 in a row, if it were someone like mcgregor or forrest that would make sense.

Reps and family will probs be a big influence in kt thinking of moving on, I will hate to see him leave but will love to see him tear it up down there and shut a few * up .

 

Arsenal are still falling short in their offers for Kieran Tierney says Celtic manager Neil Lennon, as the transfer window enters its final week.

The Gunners have made no secret of their desire to sign the Scottish full-back, but have so far failed to strike a deal with Celtic.

As reported by Sportsmail, Arsenal were closing in on the deal after working on a restructured package for the £25million signing, but Lennon says there is still work to be done.

Obviously the window in England shuts on Thursday. It can be an unsettling period for any player,' Lennon told Sky Sports.

'We have rejected two bids and the clubs know the valuation that we value Kieran [Tierney] at and it's not been met.

'He is dealing with it very well. We are living in an age now where it's coming at you from all angles, especially on social media.

'He is only 22. We have to be mindful of that as well. He is trying to keep his feet on the ground and stay focused on the present,' Lennon added.

The overall deal looked to have collapsed last week as Arsenal refused to increase their initial down payment and fell £5m short of Celtic's demands.

After improving their terms, the Gunners grew in confidence that a deal could be completed.

From Celtic's viewpoint however, an acceptable proposition is yet to arrive at their table.

Tierney has told Celtic he wants the chance to play in the Premier League and the Scottish champions are willing to grant his wish if their set fee is met.
